Bike 1:10:00 [2] 28.0 km (24.0 kph) +150m

Easy spin on the gravel bike. Warmer than forecast I think - 16 degrees - so riding in shorts and no jacket. Back through upper Arrow Heights - man is Revelstoke bigger than you think. We are a bit insulated from growth due to living downtown but there is a lot of new construction happening.

Skate ski 1:00:00 [2] 11.0 km (5:27 / km) +265m 4:52 / km

A few hours later than ideal today so conditions were soft and slow. There was even some remnants of fresh snow on Log Roller which was even slower. Nice to still be skating though.

When you don't work as much there is more flexibility to time the weather and snow conditions...:) A bit of fresh snow yesterday and improving weather today meant that conditions should be decent. Tom took the day off work and joined me. We had plans to do the Tupper traverse but East Rogers didn't open so had to pivot to another option. We broke trail up to Video Peak (the lack of traffic is one of my favorite things about April at the pass) and dropped down the other side. The morning was cloudier than I expected which worked out well as upper face didn't get as much sun as it might have otherwise. The upper pitch on the other side is nice and steep then mellows out for the remainder of the slope. Ankle top dry powder. Climbing back up to Bruin's pass seemed like a bit of a slog. The weather varied between warm and cold depending on the sun being out though air temperature was just below zero. I find these conditions seem to tire me out more (vs clear and warm or cloudy and cool). The ski back into Connaught was going to involve slopes that had seen more sun and it was a decision between 8812 and Bruin's/Hospital. We chose the latter as it was more of an east aspect. Probably a good choice as even on east aspects the snow was getting some solar input. Below 1900 m every aspect was getting heavy...

Hip PT. My hip is feeling pretty strong but my SI joint is bugging me at the moment.

Downhill Skiing 30:00 [1]

Last day at the hill - with Easter being so late this is one of the later closing dates that I can remember. Given it was the last day there was a lot of people out there. I even had to use the singles line rather than skiing right onto the lift. A few runs on the front, a few on the Ripper, then I skied down to mid mountain. Below that was closed due to lack of snow.

Skate ski 1:00:00 [3] 11.5 km (5:13 / km) +355m 4:31 / km

The big groomer was out again yesterday and the night was cold so another good freeze. I'd say I timed conditions as best as I could today. Only a few tracks yesterday so the grooming was very smooth. The dog loop has some very dirty sections but higher up was much cleaner. Not super fast on the way down but that's OK as I often snowplow anyway to let Milo keep up.

Snow shovelling - last day for the backyard as I'll let the rest melt on its own. Still a handful of days before the front snow melts.

Backcountry skiing (Mantra) 3:00:00 [2] 15.0 km (12:00 / km) +1255m 8:28 / km

Back to the same spot with Courtney and put another two tracks on the Bonney West run (for a total of four tracks... again quiet with only two other vehicles in the parking lot). The snow was still good and since I had heavier boots and skis the skiing was even better. Courtney on the other hand was trying out her 88mm skis and couldn't quite get the hang of them in powder. Clouds rolled in around lunch which kept the lower elevation conditions crunchier. The ski out was easier yesterday.
