Wednesday Feb 28

Running 1:05:00 [1]9 km (7:13 / km) +300m 6:11 / km
(sick) shoes: asics traily things
Would've had another day off but had to hang controls for night-o on the (crap) map I made. Took it as slow as I humanely could and wore lots of clothes. Actually felt ok once I got going. It was cold and rainy and windy.
C • dont touch my mum 2
Note
(sick)
Sore throat gone, just sick in the head now
C • don't put your map down -its a... 3

Sunday Feb 25

Running long 1:57:00 [3]25.2 km (4:39 / km) +800m 4:00 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Getting out the door was a struggle but after 10mins my hangover cleared and I enjoyed a pretty swift long run over to Onesmoor trig and High Bradfield. I come to a stile and see a HUGE dog, but it's on a lead and has a muzzle on so I'm not feeling too scared. Then the stupid old bat holding the lead lets go and the beast nuts me in the nads with his muzzle. Get home, have a big lunch and watch the Carling Cup final. Drama! 12 days to go... :o)

Saturday Feb 24

Orienteering 40:00 [3]6.5 km (6:09 / km) +250m 5:10 / km

Through Hillsborough to and from Beeley.

Friday Feb 23

Running 1:05:00 [3]14.3 km (4:33 / km) +520m 3:51 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Pretty hilly run from home. Loxley, Stannington, Den Bank. Felt pretty good.

Thursday Feb 22

Running 34:00 [2]7.5 km (4:32 / km) +200m 4:00 / km
shoes: asics roady things
Same old same old
Running intervals 40:00 [5]10.2 km (3:55 / km) +330m 3:23 / km
shoes: asics roady things
90x30s (20reps) round a fairly hilly road loop. My knee took the pounding quite well and I felt much better than on recent days :o) Hunters Bar, Brincliffe Edge, Ringinglow Rd, Hangingwater, Tom Lane
Running 22:00 [3]5.2 km (4:14 / km) +70m 3:58 / km
shoes: asics roady things
On the roads before and after intervals

Wednesday Feb 21

Orienteering 44:00 [3]6.5 km (6:46 / km) +250m 5:41 / km
shoes: adidas swoops
Decided I've hardly done any technique recently so did some control picking on the sexy bits of Burbage/Longshaw. Had to take it slow cos it was rocky and the whole navigation thing wasn't feeling very "natural".
Running 58:00 [3]12 km (4:50 / km) +300m 4:18 / km
shoes: adidas swoops
Parked up at Ringinglow so had to hotfoot it across the moors to and from my control pick. Legs achy and heavy. Gonna have a few easy weeks soon.

Tuesday Feb 20

Running 33:00 [3]7.5 km (4:24 / km) +200m 3:53 / km
shoes: asics roady things
Usual morning run (in that I usually take the same route in the mornings, not that I usually go running in the morning)
Footy 40:00 [3]
shoes: asics traily things
We got beat by a good team 5-0 but I was fairly shit
Running intervals 34:00 [5]6.5 km (5:14 / km)
shoes: asics roady things
Track with Hallamshire Harriers. 5x200m, 4x300m, 6x350m, 4x300m, 5x200m. A very confusing session so I've no idea how long stuff took. Alls I know is that it hurt.
Running 56:00 [2]12.2 km (4:35 / km) +100m 4:25 / km
shoes: asics roady things
To and from the track through some very dodgy bits of town on my own. But I wasn't scared.

Monday Feb 19

Circuits 40:00 [4]
shoes: asics roady things
Felt tough this week
Running 40:00 [2]7.5 km (5:20 / km) +150m 4:51 / km
shoes: asics roady things
Usual warming up plus a jog with Ash, Little Rob and John.

Sunday Feb 18

Running long 1:53:00 [3]22.8 km (4:57 / km) +810m 4:13 / km
shoes: adidas swoops
Grand tour of Burbage, Blacka and Longshaw. Don't quite get how I got so sweaty when I was feeling really cold. Ran with Jimbo for the first 25 mins then all on me tod so got a bit bored. Finished off with the traditional Little John lunch.
C • 3 minute run 3

Saturday Feb 17

Orienteering race 1:01:00 [4]8.6 km (7:06 / km) +340m 5:55 / km
shoes: jalas o-shoes
Got a guest run at Wharncliffe in the varisty match. I knew it was gonna be very brambly and horrid, so I was pleasantly pleased that it was only moderately both of those things. Didn't make any real mistakes, but I was pissed off that I felt puny and weak and slow in the terrain. I think someone good would've done this course in sub-55. As it was I won by 3 whole seconds.
C • Splits 4
Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]5 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: jalas o-shoes

Friday Feb 16

Running 1:09:00 [3]15.1 km (4:34 / km) +520m 3:54 / km
shoes: asics traily things
One of them days where you could wait all day for it to stop raining and it just ain't gonna. But it wasn't that cold and sliding about in the mud was quite good fun and I felt ok. Rivelin (for a change). I think this was the old skool extended run (Stannington, Dams, back along top).

Thursday Feb 15

Running 1:30 [3]0.3 km (5:00 / km) +10m 4:17 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Made it to the bottom of Springvale Road before deciding it wasn't for me today. My 2nd shortest run ever.

Wednesday Feb 14

Running long 1:53:00 [3]23.9 km (4:44 / km) +680m 4:08 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Lovely day and a bit of Mariah Carey (All I want for Christmas) in my head so I was a happy bunny. Went out top of Rivelin to Headstone then across to Damflask and back down Loxley Valley.

Tuesday Feb 13

Footy 40:00 [3]
shoes: asics traily things
3-2 to the mighty ShUOC. Get in! But I ain't got many games left to bag a goal for myself this season.
Running 56:00 [3]11.9 km (4:42 / km) +440m 3:58 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Rivelin old skool. Ran with Middle (yeah, really, shock horror!) down to the bottom. He then did the old old skool shortened version (getting a bit of lingo going here for my multitude of Rivelin runs) while I just stuck to old skool and ran a bit harder to catch him by the stables. Then jogged back home.
C • Old Skool eh! 2

Monday Feb 12

Note
(rest day)
Absolutely no intention of doing anything useful today
C • just a normal day then? 7

Sunday Feb 11

Orienteering race 53:00 [4]8.7 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Pretty accurate sans-compass. It was the running that was the problem. 4 mins behind JD so had to relinquish the yellow jersey.
Orienteering 48:00 [1]7 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Warm-up + a course back to the huts after. Mainly at sub-girly pace cos I was screwed.

Brown - Splits

Circuits 20:00 [3]
Rollins special session
Orienteering 15:00 [3]3 km (5:00 / km)

Orienteering race 47:00 [4]7.7 km (6:06 / km)

Street and scrub-o round Dullstroom. Dunno how I won.

Friday Feb 9

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3]10 km (7:30 / km)

Running 1:25:00 [3]16 km (5:19 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Chuffin hot and Scott wasn't hanging about. Knee only ached.
Orienteering 30:00 [2]2 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Check out these mpks! Peely gave us a google-earth course on some mad rocks. I made a 10 minute mistake and still won.

Wednesday Feb 7

Cycling 1:30:00 [2]
With Helen, Alison and Pippa. I think I kept up ok and even got told I'm "not that bad at downhill".
C • black as night 1

Tuesday Feb 6

Running 20:00 [3]4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
The first control of a long-o before jacking and getting lynched into a 3to1 by the coaches. Should've carried on!
C • lol 3

With BJ and Steve Sylvester. They chatted while I collected controls.

Monday Feb 5

Circuits 20:00 [3]

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]
Perfect tanning weather and didn't hurt my knee. Apparently my bike was better than BJ's. According to BJ.
Running 1:00:00 [2]10 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Tried jogging with BJ. It hurt (my knee, not the pace)

Sunday Feb 4

Orienteering 20:00 [4]3.5 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Yeah I can run through this pain...
Running 40:00 [2]6 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Up a hill with BJ.
Note
Got told not to run this afternoon so went animal watching with a pair of binoculars. I didn't see any. The others, who went for a run, saw 7 giraffes. Damn physios.
Circuits 25:00 [2]
shoes: asics roady things
ooh nearly forgot about this little beasty

Saturday Feb 3

Orienteering 50:00 [3]6.6 km (7:35 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops
Great. First session in S.Africa and I twatted my knee on a rock about 5 mins into it. Decided I was hard and I'd carry on. Likely terrain for snakes so running a bit scared. Other people saw zebras but I saw jack. Still, it was about 35 degrees

Friday Feb 2

Running 1:10:00 [3]15.4 km (4:33 / km) +540m 3:52 / km
shoes: asics traily things
Stannington, Rivelin Dams, top of Rivelin. Wow gorgeous day! And I had the rocky tune in my head. Maybe Sheffield isn't such a bad place. But still rather be going to South Africa. Next run will be in the summer...

Ooh nearly forgot to mention the cricket. You're only as good as your last game.

Thursday Feb 1

Running 33:00 [3]7.5 km (4:24 / km) +200m 3:53 / km
shoes: asics roady things
Woke up about half way up Springvale Road. Too late to go back to bed by then.
C • pub, beer and a snus? 7
Running intervals 33:00 [5]8 km (4:08 / km) +100m 3:53 / km

5x5minutes with 2mins recovery. On roads in rush hour so lots of fun. A wee bit tired truth be told.
C • crazy bastard 4
Running 18:00 [3]4 km (4:30 / km) +100m 4:00 / km
shoes: asics roady things
Before and after intervals.
