Orienteering race 1:09:00 [4]

Stag's Head. State league race in Tassie. Feeling ultra confident so decided I'd give Gracie a McFlurry for every split she beat me on. That would be 5 then goddammit. Serves me right for making stupid mistakes and not sprinting the short legs. Actually one of them was pretty short and I knew she'd have a go at it, so I nailed it and we still only tied. She can be impressively speedy. Terrain was sandstoney outcrops with some branchy stuff around.

Got up pretty early with a slight hangover after poker night to squeeze this run in before rushing my packing before hotfooting it over to the airport. Then Gracie realises she had the plane time wrong and we actually have an extra hour. Still, best part of the day they say and it was quite sunny. Black Mt, Bruce Ridge and stuff.

Out Bruce Ridge way and over the top of Lake Ginninderra and up the creek and back and I fell off once and this was ages ago and I don't remember so very much about it.

90x30s (30 reps). Was gonna do 20reps but my planned route of heading west on equestrian trails (bridleways), round Belconnen golf club and back through Higgins and Holt took longer than I'd bargained for. Plus I got lost and started going through places like Scullin and Kippax which I've never heard of. Relocated on Southern Cross Drive/Coulter Drive intersection. Anyway, felt quite good. Last 10mins was a real effort but.

To and from Aranda Oval with the bird and round in a few circles while she did some fast stuff. A bit achey.

Wednesday May 23

Good paced long run mainly with Jules. He ran over to mine (45mins), then we ran together for 75mins ending at his and I ran back home (45mins). Legs a bit stiff and achey, but not feeling too tired. Mainly on big tracks up Mt Painter, round Aranda, through Black Mt reserve, through town to Ainslie, round some paths, back to Jules', edge of Bruce Ridge, Black Mt, Aranda and Mt Painter again. Lovely.

Did 6x1km on the track at Dickson Oval with Jules. Reckon the sand hazards, deep ruts, long grass and climb on the back straight will have slowed us down a bit. Dunno about Jules, but I was screwed at the end. Not much in it, he's prob a bit quicker. 3.09, 3.08, 3.08, 3.10, 3.14, 3.11. (going off every 4.30)
