Sunday Jan 6

Running 1:13:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
A decent run of various pace on Majura in the mid-afternoon heat (33 degrees) with Gracie. Felt pretty good despite the heat. Also it was the first time I've run in a cap. Wiggled up to the top, down and through the pines, and over the little hill between Majura and Ainslie. Interestingly, the map I took was surveyed by a certain Marcus Pinker.

Running 1:10:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
Ran down to the Domain with a map and picked off a few permanent controls before heading out along a beach to a headland by a cemetary and back to the Domain and round a bit. In the 30s and really humid so I was having trouble getting going.
Running 35:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
Back in Canberra and went round the Pinnacle with Gracie for an evening loosener. Gorgeous evening for it - sun setting over the ranges.

Friday Jan 4

Note
(rest day)
Had a day out at Port Arthur with Gracie. Wow, buildings dating back to the 1840s. Interesting place though.

Thursday Jan 3

Running long 2:24:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
Jan dropped me at Myrtle Creek (500m) and I ran up to the summit of Collins Bonnet (1250m) in hot sunshine. More great views. Then ran along some fun mountain paths to the aptly named 'Big Bend' (a big bend in the road) and dropped down to the Elson's house. Went the wrong way off the mountain though and ended up at Cascade Brewery. Maybe a subconscious error?

Wednesday Jan 2

Running 1:14:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
Ran from The Springs halfway up Mt Wellington, down to Fern Tree, along the Pipeline track (did this flat bit pretty fast) and up through Snake Plains (didn't see any fortunately) and back along Milles track. Time includes a 10min warm down jog. Such a great place for training. Reckon one could get quite fit living in Hobart.

Tuesday Jan 1

Note
(rest day)
Started the morning with a leisurely dip in a tarn at 1100m altitude to remove my hangover before a 3hr hike back to the car. Not exactly a rest day, but too tired to do any running.

Monday Dec 31

Running 1:44:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia Pivot
Hiked up to Tarn Shelf with Gracie in the Mt Field National Park. Dumped our bags then headed off for a run to the summit (about 1400m alt.). It was really bouldery so took longer than we thought so Gracie didn't make the summit unfortunately. Even at this height at 6.40pm (when I hit the summit) it was still beautifully sunny and in the mid-20s. The views were again stunning - thousands of mountains and no roads or any of that humany stuff. Then merrily skipped back to pitch the tent, drink some (a lot of) wine, gaze at the stars and squat mozzies with Gracie. Not a bad way to start 2008.
