Running 47:00 [3] 11.0 km (4:16 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus

Since the sore throat hadn't properly developed into a cold at this point thought I might as well get in a cheeky extended HFW before it does. Felt fine apart from the impending cold.

Orienteering race (British Sprint Quals) 13:02 [5] 3.0 km (4:21 / km)
shoes: adidas swoops

Enjoyed this. Confident of making the final so was able to just focus on the nav and cruise round without any mistakes at all really. Never really ahead of the game, but just doing a leg at a time seemed to be the way to do it. Definitely had the long gaffle.

Orienteering race (British Sprint Final) 14:55 [5] 4.0 km (3:44 / km)

3rd place (2nd actuary). Pretty pleased with that - my only non-hestitation mistake was due to an unmapped uncrossable fence costing me 10secs at #12, but Murray lost time on it too so it didn't end up costing me anything. We were almost up with GG through the town but got blown away in the park. Enjoyed it a lot and know I can get a bit quicker, but I definitely learnt this weekend that I do best when I'm trying but just not too hard.

Orienteering race (British Middle Champs) 34:00 [4] 5.5 km (6:11 / km)
shoes: Jalas X20

4th place. Funny old game orienteering. In the end it was a very enjoyable course and I got an ok position, but it wasn't a performance I was particularly proud of. Doubts in the car on the way up of whether or not I was actually gonna run but decided to just go out, enjoy it, and see what happened. What happened was a spectacular cock up at #5 of almost 2mins. After that I took my feet off the burners and cruised round and really did enjoy it. A couple of smaller mistakes at #13 and #16 but nothing major. Didn't expect to be as high up as I was - not many people mastered this terrain. Didn't really notice the hip and sore throat (picked up on Friday) as I had the map to think about and you could never really get into full stride anyway.

Note
(injured)

Can still feel it walking about the place. Should be ok to race this weekend hopefully - at least I'll be well rested!

Hip's not feeling particularly great - will go to physio when I get a chance, hopefully at the start of next week.

Orienteering 35:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)

Stock Hill control pick planned and hung by Mark S. Great area - really tricky. Struggled to get much flow going.

Collecting some controls in.
