Orienteering 42:00 [3] 6.7 km (6:16 / km) +200m 5:27 / km

O-training on Mt Wanniassa. Good to get in the terrain and find a few features. Didn't find them all though - reckon some of the termies mapped in the 80s (?) may have gone, or are at least swallowed by the long grass. Surprisingly good bits of bush to run through. Map could do with modernising at some point though.

Lunch run with Tomas up to and along the southern bit of the Red Hill ridge. Started to feel a bit more comfortable as the run went on, and ended up feeling quite good. Nice sunny but cool day.

Did a run from the arboretum exploring those pines between there and the Molonglo. Just wide fire trails but some nice trees either side. Then turned out the crossing into Coombs was closed due to workmen so had to loop back shorter than planned. Turned out to be a blessing though as I was proper rooted on the way back. Just got to keep chipping away and hopefully will feel good again sometime soon.

Running 19:00 [3] 3.5 km (5:26 / km) +145m 4:30 / km

Ran to the orienteering from work. Was moving along nicely until I hit Red Hill.

Orienteering 38:00 [4] 5.7 km (6:40 / km) +240m 5:30 / km

Twilight event at Red Hill. Cracking course set by Tomas - more dark orange than the usual light orange we tend to get. Tough though - lots of hills, steep slopes and long grass to fight through. I felt worn out from the off - combination of my cough dragging on and a lack of sleep over the past week (due to the cough). Despite being woefully slow on the ups, I was pretty accurate around the first half, but then got tired and sloppy from #12 onwards. I think there's a few places on that NE slope where the features don't quite work relative to each other. Amusingly I led from the first control to the last, but got pipped by Jim on the run-in. The comedy in action:

Lap of Taylor. Ok have decided to ignore the cough as I'm basically fine and it's really just an annoyance now. Lap of Taylor felt alright. Also got annoyed by Parks deciding to close a nice single-track by covering it up with branches whilst simultaneously making the fire trail into a road. Pretty sure I wouldn't be breaking any laws if I liberated that single-track.

(sick)

Gracie up in Sydney doing her exam, so I ran from home to daycare to pick up Florence (we then bused home). Hot and humid. Legs quite heavy from all the recent inactivity. Coughing a bit on the run, and still in the evening, but I don't think the run made it any worse.

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Argh bloody cough won't go. Feel fine otherwise.
