Morning playing on the beach and various rock shelves near Durras with Gracie and Florence. Set off home after the obligatory fish and chips in Batemans Bay. Stopped at the top of the Corn Trail so I could do a run while G&F played in the river. Really humid and warm in the rainforest, so it was quite an effort. Cool windy singletrack and just about got to the steep drop-off in my 27mins out. Fortunately didn't see any snakes but did get a bit startled by a massive goanna. Felt better on the way back which was net downhill. Good to have a refreshing splash in the river at the end.

Weekend at the coast, staying at Durras Sth. We drove to Pretty Beach and I did one of my favourite loops in NSW over Durras Mtn to near Pebbly Beach and back along the rock shelves and beaches. Quite hot and humid so I sweated buckets on the climb, which I did solidly. The technical rocks and energy-sapping sand was really draining on the way back. Always good to finish up with a dip in the sea and an ice cream though :)

Lunch run around the central basin and Parlo house. Bumped into Sam near Kings Bridge, so ran with him for a while.

Fairly gentle cruise IW via the hospital and the Red Hill saddle. Not a lot to report - it was actually cool.

8x3mins on my HFW - warm but not too hot. Went via the re-routed centennial trail on Mugga. Legs were tired and heavy to begin with, but seemed to feel fresher as it went on.

Warm-up and down and 1min recoveries.

Rest of the southside gang couldn't make today's IW for various reasons, so since I was running on my own I took the chance to go the more scenic route via Farrer and Isaacs. It was cloudy and moist and a hell of a lot cooler than most of my recent runs - so that was refreshing. Enjoyed the run and felt quite good.

Problem with running early to avoid the heat, is that the heat often means it's harder to sleep, and hence harder to run early. A vicious cycle. So today I ran at 3pm instead and did some intervals (5x5mins) along the Red Hill south ridge. It was hot but I got it done ok - quite a bit of uphill.

A bit before and after, plus 2min recoveries.

Crazy hot day so opted for the late evening run option - still warm and muggy, but no sun so it was bearable. Clockwise around Taylor, then up the main path.
