Orienteering race (Oceania Sprint Champs) 16:48 [5] 3.6 km (4:40 / km)

At Unitec, Auckland. Came 8th (3rd Aussie), +1:09mins to Ross. Fun course on a very well drawn map with lots of variety. Pretty happy with my run - just a few minor hesitations. Felt like I was planning ahead fairly nicely. The last few controls were in a very tricky bit of temporary buildings, which was fun. Didn't feel great running and was a bit disappointed to be as far off the pace as I was. Still, certainly not a bad run/result and a good warm up for the proper races.

Running 39:00 [3] 8.4 km (4:39 / km) +160m 4:14 / km

Lunch run up Davo. Pretty manic final few days before a couple of weeks of leave, but fortunately managed to squeeze in this run. Felt quite good.

Running 18:00 [5] 5.5 km (3:16 / km)

12x90secs around the East Basin. Tried to do some shorter reps to inject some speed into my legs. It didn't really work and I felt very heavy and slow, but it was good to do a hard session.

Running warm up/down 21:00 [2] 3.9 km (5:23 / km)

Running 39:00 [3] 8.6 km (4:32 / km) +170m 4:08 / km

Lunch run up Red Hill. It was actually cold today. Felt ok in the leggies though.

Running 38:20 [4] 6.2 km (6:11 / km) +240m 5:11 / km

Re-ran the NOL course from a couple of weeks ago on Isaacs. Not much to be read into the overall time for lots of reasons, but it was good to do a tempo run in terrain and learn a bit about what the best lines were. Felt ok in the legs and quite enjoyed it. Was lucky to find a gap between the rain today.

Running 20:00 [3] 3.2 km (6:15 / km) +150m 5:04 / km

Round the tracks up the hill to the start as a warm-up, and a gentle warm down on the flat.

Running race (Tuggers Parkrun) 16:36 [5] 5.0 km (3:19 / km)

Nice cool morning. Felt reasonably solid the whole way, didn't tire really, but hammies a bit tight and felt like I was lacking any zip. A touch disappointed with the time - had been hoping to be closer to 16.15ish at this stage of the season - but it was by no means a disaster either. Last couple of weeks haven't been ideal but I guess I have enough in the legs so that NZ is going to come down to race execution.

Running warm up/down 17:00 [2] 3.3 km (5:09 / km)
