Running 2:19:00 [3] 23.0 km (6:03 / km) +930m 5:02 / km

The brindies has gotten a fair dumping of snow the last few days, so I thought I should take the chance for a rare snow run - elected for Camels Hump from Tidbinbilla visitor centre. On the drive there I realised thereā€™d been a fresh dumping overnight... First few kms were damp and cold and gradually uphill - not a lot of fun. But then I climbed steeply up to the main trail and the snow started - was fun making fresh tracks. On the main trail it quickly got very deep - over a foot of fresh powdery snow and no tracks. The 5kms along here were literally wading, which was really tough. Also regretted the choice of shorts. Eventually turned off the ridge down a steep trail of powdery virgin snow - woo hoo! Long drag back to the car on undulating fire trails, with very stiff legs from all the wading. A good adventure.

Running 24:00 [5] 6.2 km (3:52 / km) +100m 3:35 / km

8x3mins on trails around Farrer and Taylor. Felt pretty good. Chilly day - snow on the peaks, will have to check them out...

Running 37:00 [3] 7.8 km (4:45 / km) +160m 4:18 / km

Running 1:08:00 [3] 13.0 km (5:14 / km) +270m 4:44 / km

Did not pick a good night to do two runs - still cold and windy before sunrise (felt like -4). Gentle loop around Isaacs (roo cull ended) and Farrer. Pace was pretty lame even for a gentle run - but 4 hours sleep and tight legs from last night probably explain that.

Running 20:00 [5] 5.5 km (3:38 / km) +50m 3:29 / km

Late night Mona around Woden bike paths. Foul windy cold evening, so aim was to just get it done without looking at watch or worrying about pace. Equivalent to a flat route because the downs were into the wind and the ups had a tail wind. Legs felt alright.

Running 31:00 [2] 6.3 km (4:55 / km) +100m 4:34 / km

Running 1:27:00 [3] 18.3 km (4:45 / km) +210m 4:30 / km

Southside train to work, for the first time in a while. Not much of a train this week - just Sam and me. Had a good catch-up on all things trail running. Legs felt alright. Cold morning but sunny and still - was well rugged-up.

Running race (Mt Ainslie Run-up) 11:55 [5] 2.3 km (5:11 / km) +230m 3:27 / km

First proper go at this, so a pb wasn't too surprising. Fairly hot field with Craigie, Burridge and Minto all in attendance. Tucked in behind Craigie from the off trying to not let him get too far ahead on the flat bits. As the steepness ramped up I thought I'd have a crack and surged past him. But I couldn't get a gap and he got past me on the next flatter section. Same happened again at the next steeper bit, except this time when it got flatter (concrete path near the top), my legs were gone and he gapped me to win by 8secs. Good workout and fun to be in a battle. Not a bad time but room for improvement - probably spent too much energy early on and in the surges, so lost time at the end.

Running warm up/down 36:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:09 / km) +50m 4:58 / km

From and to work.
