To keep the AP police happy it was a slow and gentle run into work which took around 22 minuites. My weekly run into work average is pretty much average.

Well I guess you could call this the first day of my winters training. Then again maybe not... I decided that I need to find a long steady (off-roady) loop that I can run with a head torch after work once a week. I was nearly killed a dozen times last year on Limb Lane even with a torch, so this loop goes up Limb Valley instead. Start with 3 miles of road from work up eccy road to the bottom of Limb Valley. Then up the valley to Lady Cannings. Through the plantation to nearly the ox stones. Right turn, cross road, over burbage mines, through farm, left and along abit of the top road. Left and across fields to road corner below bottom redmires reservoir. Then along the 'conduit' to the back of the Sportsman. Across playing field, then across road to the usual path along the top of Rivelin.

Anyway the plan is to do this (or sommat similar) once-a-mid-week.

Legs ain't used to that -looking forward to dinner then the pub quiz.

Euromeeting Long Race.

I cocked up the first control because I assumed the start triangle was at the line. Turned left at the first bend in the track (which was about 15m before the actual start kite and 100m before the bend I wanted) and then continued to fit the map to the ground and loose some 2 or 3 minuites -what a nobber. No one actually said anything to me at the start so I was a bit miffed. Tomas Tervo caught me at about 4km (4mins) after lots of shorter legs.

Then the main routechoice leg (2.5km straight +frick loads of climb) or 3.5km round on the track. Track obviously -Tervo came with me and we pushed it along.

Continued well through the technical butterflies and short legs.

Then long leg back to the finish. Took a maverick route (saw one pair of feet had gone that way) -massively steep climb at the end in comparison to a gentle rise the whole way. I pushed really hard up the hill -got into oxygen debt and cocked up another 3mins.

So I lost buckets of time, but i was generally pleased with how i was orienteering and running -pulling away from Tervo at times and taking better lines. Frustrated is the word of the day.

Euromeeting. Relay.

1st leg. Came through 70% in 5 place. The four other guys went north and I went west. Long leg and for about 800m I was checking and re-checking I was going the right way. It scared me and i was convinced i had cocked up and made some kind of parellel error. Turns out it was a massive gaffle which ended up being around 2.5-3 mins (500m +climb) longer and I made a mistake so it looks like i did shite -which i did.

Pleased to be up with the leader boys but the word of the day is frustrated.
