Saturday Mar 31

Orienteering 24:50 [4] 4.7 mi (5:17 / mi)
Perfect day for orienteering. Not too hot, and great fast terrain at Smiths Reef. Started off well, but started to fade toward the las 1.5 km of this long sprint.
Orienteering 50:00 [3]
More looped courses that I took at a much more sedate pace than the morning. Wasn't navigating too well on the first or second loop, which is a bit of a concern for the weeks ahead.

Thursday Mar 29

Run 45:00 [3]
Run was the best thing I did all day. Was starting to get quite dark cold and wet by the time I finished. I may need to invest in some warmer running cloths soon.

Wednesday Mar 28

Run warm up/down 15:00 [2]
Run 16:00 [4]
Very wet for Clara Fartlek this week, but it has been a while since I have run in the rain.

Monday Mar 26

Riding-MTB 1:05:00 [3]
I have decieded that I much prefer being able to train when it is light, although I don't know if this will be a big enough incentive to get me up early in the morning.

Sunday Mar 25

Run 1:17:00 [3]
Perfect morning for running. Nice and cool and still a bit damp under foot. Got off to a good start until I was about 3/4 up Norman Street. Easy cruise back along the creek after a side trip through Nerrina. Could have spent a lot more time out there, but had other things to do today.
Riding-MTB 50:00 [2]
Very nice out still, but getting a bit windy. Some interesting new single track out there.

Saturday Mar 24

Orienteering 23:00 [3]
Never really got into this one. While I seemed to be running OK, I had no sense of direction, or the common sense to use a map and compass to work out direction.
Orienteering 31:00 [3]
Much better in this excersise. Was able to navigate, although I did struggle running through the last km, but I wasn't going to let Troy and Bryan catch me this time.

Thursday Mar 22

Run 40:00 [2]
Had too much work to do today, and as a result I was buggered by the time I was able to go for a run. Felt very flat.

Wednesday Mar 21

Run 20:00 [2]
Run 16:00 [4]
Clara fartlek. Was going OK until I swallowed one of the largest insects I have seen in a while. Took a bit of effort to get going again after coughing that one up.

Monday Mar 19

Riding-MTB 1:12:00 [3] 25.1 km (2:52 / km)
Nice ride out around some of the tracks behing White Sean Res. All pretty major tracks with nothing intricate. Alright when you haven't been there before.

Sunday Mar 18

Run 1:00:00 [2]
Run around the Spring Gully Res with Clara. Found more holes in the fence than I could count. Went a bit further than the standard Res run to make it up to an hour.
C • You can't count beyond 4? Or y... 1

Saturday Mar 17

Riding- Road 2:20:00 [2]
Ride around the Gooseneck with Clara and Jo-Ann. Bit of a head wind on the way out, but a great morning for riding. The old bike was starting to creak a bit toward the end, and was in need of a good bit of lubrication.
Orienteering race 46:47 [3]
Took it pretty easy after the ride in the morning, and the short turn around time made it difficult to eat enough food to replenish the energy, but not vomit on the course. Wasted about 1 minute trying to cross the creek at a very snakey looking spot. Other than a bit of a struggle up Lawson Street, I kept an easy tempo of around 5 minutes a km for most of the run.

Thursday Mar 15

Run 50:00 [3]
Out around Nerrina in an attempt to clarify some issues I had over the weekend. I have deceided that control 17 was on the right feature, but the placement of the mound was suspect.

Wednesday Mar 14

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Run 16:00 [4]
Clara fartlek. Felt much better than last week, but it didn't relate to improving my best mark. Must have gone out soft because I was able to get back easily. Got to start getting pumped for the Goose neck
C • Gooseneck 3

Monday Mar 12

Riding-MTB 1:00:00 [3] 19 km (3:09 / km)
Nice easy ride around some of the big tracks around the east of Nerrina, following one of the MTB race couses. Nice in the forrest, but very windy on the roads. Legs are feeling good now after being very tight last night.

Sunday Mar 11

Orienteering race 1:00:56 [4] 8.8 km (6:55 / km)
Was physically runing well for most of the course, and it will be interesting to see where I lie with people when I was not making mistakes (just a few legs to compare). Lost time on number 4, at least 90 seconds on 6, number 10, at least 2 and a half minutes at 14. From there it was all over. All up, a pretty shit run, not one I will want to revisit any time soon.

Saturday Mar 10

Event: Eureka Challenge Weekend

Orienteering intervals 30:00 [3]
Some intervals on the lower part of Nerrina. Starting to know the area pretty well, so put the compass away for the last two and tried to focus on direction while running at speed. Worked OK in training, but not for the rest of the weekend.
Orienteering race 52:07 [4] 7.3 km (7:08 / km)
Not quite as hot as I thought it might get, but the air was as dry as it has been in a long time. Lost quite a lot of time to people in the first spur-gully section, I still don't quite know how Jimbo could take 3 minutes out of me there. Almost lost him through poor route choice on the way to 10, and really had to work to get back. Very scrappy in the short technical stuff, and lost a lot of time here. Should have been able to stick with Jim until the end, but I had a major brain malfunction, and completely lost track of where I was on the map, and where I was supposed to be going. Pretty happy with the race though.

Thursday Mar 8

Run 50:00 [3]
Another crap day at work, but I was feeling much better for the run. Deceided to go around White Swan Res, as I thought it might be like Spring Gully. The first part was great, but with some bloody steep sections, but then the track stopped and I was forced to run through some guys farm, and along the road for the last 4 or so k's.

Wednesday Mar 7

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Run 16:00 [4]
Clara fartlek. Had a pretty shit day at work and it carried on over to the session. Felt alright on the way out, but couldn't keep track of the time on the way back. As a result I didn't quite get back in time. Will be looking for a much nicer run tomorrow.
C • Haha, I bet you wish you did a... 6

Monday Mar 5

Riding-MTB 1:01:00 [3] 22.4 km (2:43 / km)
Felt like shit all day. Easy ride out to the Gong Gong puddle. Haven't been there before, but I will have to go and explore around the back of the Res.

Sunday Mar 4

Orienteering race 1:16:49 [4] 9 km (8:32 / km)
Was running well except for the last part of the first loop. Was slowed down significantly by controls being in the wrong spot (6 min aprox), and my own lack of concentration on numver 10, where I ended up at 11 (2 min).

Loop 1: 37'40''
Loop 2: 24'28''
Loop 3: 14'39''
C • Did you beat Kathryn? 2

Saturday Mar 3

Riding-MTB 1:21:00 [3] 29 km (2:48 / km)
Great ride out around Canadian Forest. Shame it takes 20 minutes of riding on the road to get there. Some of the tracks were very slick where they were covered with leaves.

Thursday Mar 1

Run 50:00 [3]
A terrain run around some of the gold mining around the lower end of Nerrina. Ran out into the steep section that I have never orienteered on just to get up the time, but it was suprisingly pleasent.
