Riding- Road 1:07:00 [3] 32.1 km (2:05 / km)

Took it nice and easy, given the temp. Out around White Swan, Invermay and the lake. Cooled down nicely while I was out. Started out as 38 degrees, but dropped down to 33 by the time I got home. At least that is one good thing about Ballarat, it generally cools down quickly in the evening. Not too much evidence of the fire in the lake. It must have been lit right in the middle.

Don't think there will be any training tomorrow. Will have to see how many times the power goes off at the hospital tomorrow. 2 to beat so far.

Run 40:00 [3]

Feeling particularly soft (and mountain bike needs some repairs) so didn't end up going down to the Duo. Spent most of the day watching the tennis, then went for a bit of a run around the lake at Creswick on the way back to Ballarat, where it was much cooler and nicer for running in Bendigo.

Run 1:29:00 [3]

Went out to Number 7 Res, with the intention of doing the first part of the run with the group out there. No-one was there at 7, so went out by myself. Good to get out before the heat for once, and I felt like for once I did a good, steady long run.

Riding- Road 1:04:00 [3] 32.0 km (2:00 / km)

Headed out after dinner, for a quick lap of the Juve. Was a little bit worried, as it had been horrible and windy during the day when I was driving to and from Melbourne. Was nice and still in the evening though, and not too much crap lying on the road after the winds the previous days.

Run 37:00 [3]

Pretty uninspiring run. Definately looking foward to a 4 day weekend. Hopefully I will be able to get off my arse and do something this weekend.

Riding- Road 1:09:00 [3] 33.93 km (2:02 / km)

Didn't really feel like doing much tonight, but went out anyway (I certainly could not have managed a run). Went out around White Swan and Invamary, and half way round the lake, as the road was blocked with a pretty nasty crash.

Really enjoyed it out there and glad I got off my arse and did something.

Riding- Road 59:00 [3] 27.44 km (2:09 / km)

Ride out through White Swan in the afternoon. Warm, but quite nice out on the bike, and I was able to avoid the headwind for most of it. Got rudely interupted by the on-call phone half way up Longs Hill road, making it quite difficult to get rolling again, but at least the nursing supervisor didn't comment about the heavy breathing on the phone.

Felt a bit short-changed with the lack of naked men on this ride. They must only like hanging out in the bush.

Riding-MTB 1:02:00 [3] 19.6 km (3:10 / km)

Ride in the afternoon after work. Had to make sure I didn't stray too far from home. Good to get out after a week of doing very little.

Ended up riding down track in Nerrina, only to come face to face with a group of five naked men, standing around in a circle drinking beer. Why they were doing this I don't know, and I didn't hang around to ask.

Riding- Road 50:00 [3] 24.1 km (2:04 / km)

Short ride up around White Swan. Still pretty warm even after dinner.

Sunday Jan 11, 2009 #

Riding- Road 1:51:00 [3] 53.71 km (2:04 / km)

Would have liked to go out earlier in the day, but had to cover on-call on Saturday night. Went out and watched the cycling at Buningyong for a bit of inspiration, and then went out at about 3:30, when it was nice and hot. Headed up to Creswick, via Springs Rd, then headed out Bald Hill, which was a nice, undulating road through some pine forest. Suffered quite a lot on the run back into town along Gilles Rd, particularly on the hills with the headwind, but it would be a great road to ride with a tailwind. Finished off with a climb through Invammary, and past the water tanks, just to make sure I completely wrecked myself.

Riding-MTB 55:00 [3] 16.9 km (3:15 / km)

Pretty quick ride after work. Quite an easy day at work, despite only 4 pharmacists working, but enough problems to keep me occupied. Not looking foward to the start of the killing season with all the new interns, and to make matters worse, I am on-call next week as well.

Run 35:00 [3]

Run after work. Started of OK, but was feeling pretty crap and lightheaded for the last 7 minutes. Need to HTFU.

Monday Jan 5, 2009 #

Riding- Road 51:00 [3] 25.29 km (2:01 / km)

Very short ride after dinner. Was starting to get a bit dark towards the end, but a nice outing.

Sunday Jan 4, 2009 #

Run 1:05:00 [3]

Run up Cumberland River, then up a steep ridge to Garvey track. Then down to Sheoak picnic area, and then finally down to Sheoak car park, and along the Great Ocean Road, attempting not to get hit by a multitude of cars driven by idiots.

Saturday Jan 3, 2009 #

Run 31:00 [3]

Short run to and from Sabine Falls in the Otways. Bloody slippery on the way down and bloody steep on the way back. Nice run, and I had planned to do something in the afternoon as well, but got fed up with the crowds in and around Lorne.

Friday Jan 2, 2009 #

Run 32:00 [3]

Short run in the dark after arriving at Big Hill, above Lorne. Run consisted of a run down a fire trail, and then back up. Thought it was going to be a bit tough, but it flattened out a bit after a while, making for a pleasent run, albeit with no view.

Riding-MTB 1:38:00 [3] 32.4 km (3:01 / km)

Headed out through the bush trying to stay out of the wind. Rode up to Slatey Creek along the Great Dividing Trail, and then back along some of the more major tracks. Nice ride except for the part along the dry ditch which had been burnt by DSE, causing a large number of trees to fall over the track, and burn out about 3 foot-bridges.
