Orienteering race 1:43:56 [5] 18.4 km (5:39 / km) +445m 5:02 / km

Still hurting from this one, and probably will still be tomorrow.

Started off very conservatively, and lost a little bit on 2. Simon caught up at 8, but I was never able to get much of a gap in the very open forest. Caught Jim going to 22, but suffered a bit after that when I probably put in a bit much to catch him on the track. Hesitant into 22, which let Simon catch back up again. Little messy on the last couple, but good to catch Toph as well, after I kept hallucinating his yellow shirt in front of me through the trees for most of the second part of the course.

Orienteering race 37:05 [4] 5.3 km (7:00 / km)

Started off alright, but then some mistakes started to creep in. Wasn't feeling that fast on the longer legs either, but at least I didn't have any huge blowouts.

Great course Blair

Run 25:00 [3]

Very gentle run after a pretty lethargic day.

Riding- Road 42:00 [2]

To drop the car off, and collect it while getting some new front struts fitted.

Orienteering race 49:38 [5] 7.6 km (6:32 / km) +360m 5:17 / km

Aus Relay Champs. 3rd leg for the Vic 2nd team. Have not had much luck in relays of late. Started off in a bit of a pack, a couple of minutes down on the Vic number 3 team. Tried to stick with Simon Uppill, but lost him on the 3rd control when I deceided to go the wide track route. Very suprised to see him again a little later, as we went through some different splits. Simon got a bit of a break comming out of the spectator but I now had Jymbo in my sights, and there was no way I was letting the number 2 team get beaten by the number 3 team. Got a break up the hill to 13 and held the gap to the finish.

Orienteering race 1:54:02 [5] 15.7 km (7:16 / km) +600m 6:06 / km

Started off poorly. Stuffed 3 and 4 and got caught 2 minutes by Simon Goddard. Poor route choice to 8, and lost significant time to Simon and Robbie, and having a bad fall on some rocks in the creek didn't help either. Plodded along until Blair caught me at 19, and almost lost him when I deceided I would like to run through knee high grass. Picked up a bit after the map change. Dropped Blair at 21, but knew he would be clawing back time while I stuffed around on the short legs. Caught back up to Simon, but couldn't get much of a gap, but at least it gave me some insentive for the final long leg, which turned into a bit of a Nuggets train, but it was nice to be at the front for a change.

Note

A little bit sad when a classic race has a quicker km rate (albeit climb corrected) than a sprint race

Orienteering race 21:12 [3] 3.4 km (6:14 / km)

Aus Sprint Champs. Cannot even begin to describe what went wrong, so I wont't.
