Run 30:00 [3]

Really could not be stuffed tonight, but went out for a bit anyway. Struggled to get around and was glad to get back.

Orienteering race 57:44 [5] 7.7 km (7:30 / km) +190m 6:40 / km

Started off pretty slowly, despite getting a bit of confidence back after yesterday. Discovered a pathological loathing for bracken on the way to number 4, and my route to 5 confounded this, after seeing the track route choice half way along. Deceided the track was the go to 6, but not the track to the west, the track to the east. Really screwed this up, and ran on such a fucked up bearing, that I couldnt even find it. Probably lost 4 minutes at least on this leg. Track to number 7 worked out OK, but lost 30 seconds in the circle. Too high at 8 probably lost me another 45 seconds.

More compass troubles on the way to 11, where I ended up on the track to the start. Came out of 16 on about a 30 degree angle to where I wanted to go, and again hit the track actually above number 16, even though the control was 1 contour lower. Finished off my Easter campaign following the bunting the wrong way, away from the finish chute from the last control.

Overall pretty disapointed with most of the races over the weekend. Big time losses cost me too many places to count.

Orienteering race 1:39:31 [5] 14.1 km (7:03 / km) +420m 6:09 / km

Looking foward to this one, particularly after 2 poor days previously. Not the most interesting area, and the course lacked much in the way or route choice. Lost a little time at 2 dropping into the creek too early. Got passed by Troy going to number 3 early. He got about a 100m gap, but didn't really extend it much. Dropped off going up over the hill to 3, but then caught up to Troy and Ecmo after errors at number 4. Was probably about 20 seconds behind them, and couldn't quite bridge the gap, especially after losing time at 6. Continued to battle on, and was very suprised to see Troy coming up behind me at 9. Lost about 2 minutes on number 12, again, stuffing around in the green shit around the creek, and through a poor route choice.

Suffered through the last loop, and was only able to keep up with Jules for about 300m after he went past and I deceided I may as well see what would happen if I put a bit of a surge on. I am going to blame the surge on missing the last control, ending up at the big bridge.

Pretty happy with this race, and survived the distance better than I thought I would.
