Orienteering race 46:39 [4] 6.8 km (6:52 / km)

Felt very sluggish for the first third of the course, but then I deceided I had better HTFU to make sure Jimbo didn't beat me by too much. Ran my own special course, that included an extra control in a parallel gully near 6, but left off the last control (I think this pretty much evens it out!)

Run 32:00 [3]

Been feeling pretty crap the last 2 days. Felt a little better after getting out for a run, but only marginally.

Orienteering race 1:14:00 [3] 8.3 km (8:55 / km)

Should have stayed in bed. No amount of profanity could even begin to describe how pissed off I was with this run. Probably would not have even gone if I had realised that the courses were the same as last year.

Started off reasonably, but lost 30 seconds on number 2. At least this forced me to start concentrating, and just cruised around steadily, until number 12. I remember finding this control by luck last year, after navigating poorly into the area and hoping. Took it carefully this time, making sure I knew where I was. Got into the circle and could not find the control at all. Spent about 5 minutes wandering around looking, and then thought that maybe I had fucked up after all and was on the wrong spur. Checked out one spur over, just for the sake of it, even though I was convinced I was right. Ended up having to run back up the hill to the ridge, and come down the spur at it again (very hesitantly). Eventually found it, but not after some more stuffing around.

Would probably have run about 55-56 minutes. Don't know how I will cope in a fortnight, given that I have consistently failed to perform on the area since 2003.
