Overland Track Day 4

Constant rain all day today. Comming down the other side of Pelion Gap, it was hard to know if you were walking on a track, or down one of the creeks. Mt Ossa was most certainly in cloud today, so turned down the oppertunity to climb. 2 people did get up it, but I don't think the particularly enjoyed their time on the mountain.

Overland Track Day 3

Found out a little bit about Tasmanian rain today, but little did I know the best was yet to come. Got to New Pelion early in the afternoon, despite it being a long day. Mt Oakleigh was clear when we arrived, so headed out on a sortie with a Swiss bloke to the top. Started to cloud came in and it started to rain. Got to the summit just as the really thick mist arrived, so some interesting photos of the top. Quick trip down, and by that stage there was cloud/fog down right to the hut. On the plus side, we were the only people to make it all the way to the summit that afternoon!

Overland Track Day 2

With the last of the good weather today, had to take the morning to climb Barn Bluff. Stunning views from the top of all of the lakes up on the plateau. Short walk in the afternoon drizzle to Lake Windermere.

Overland Track Day 1

First day of the trip, and a the first test to see if I could still carry a pack (has been some time since I last did any hiking). Good day for walking, started out from Ronny Creek, past Crater Lake and up to Marions Lookout. Pretty easy from there on, but the descent down into Waterfall Valley was a bit of a struggle. Stunning weather up on top of Cradle Mountain and only a relatively short climb. Quite entertaining watching people trying to clamber up rocks while carrying/using trekking poles.
