Orienteering race 47:11 [4] 7.8 km (6:03 / km)

Feeling a bit flat. Didn't really lose any massive chunks of time, except for a few poor route choices. Just slow.

Run 30:00 [3]

Up the creek to check out the damage. Some massive trees down, and a boardwalk now 1m higher than it was, and no longer connected to the track at the ends. Track was also quite muddy (not that this was a suprise)

Run 30:00 [3]

Absolutely fantastic evening for a run.

Orienteering race 2:02:03 [4] 11.6 km (10:31 / km)

Set out a bit more positive after a reasonable run the day before. Was moving reasonably well through the green early, but took the track right around to 4, where I was very suprised to see Bruce comming into the control, although he was well camoflaged in his wattle coloured O-suit. Took another direct route to 5, and was a little wayward on 6, the easiest control on the course. Hit 7 well, but struggled to work out a choice to 8, as half the leg was on a different sheet of paper. Stuck to the formula and went pretty straight, while Bruce ran the track to the right, and popped up at the control moments after I had found it.

Lost a bit of time at number 9, but probably relied to heavily on good visibility going into the circle, which just wasn't there. Met Jim at the control and dragged him up the hill to 10. Got into the circle well at 12, but lost a couple of minutes, and was passed by Jim and Bruce without seeing them. Thought I must still be infront, but saw them comming out of 13. Thought I may have been a chance of getting back on, but was really starting to suffer. Completely lost it after 17, and just fumbled my way back.

Probably the best I have run in this area, as I felt quite strong for the first part of the course, and had some confidence that I don't think has been there before. Was reasurring the be able to run into the circle confidently and be sure that the control would be behind the next rock.
