Orienteering race 1:33:31 [5] 13.4 km (6:59 / km) +425m 6:01 / km

Australian Long Champs

Finally managed a decent run at this carnival. Lost a little time at 3, but caught sight of Jimbo comming out of 4, which was encouraging, as I knew I had made up some ground. A bit slow to 8, and got caught by Clive Parry and Rob Walter. Went through the loops well, but lost contact in the more open terrain between 16 and 18. Stuffed 19, and got caught up by Andy, who I had difficulty pulling away from over the open ground. Somehow came in way too high on the last control and probably lost close to a minute.

Need to be able to run like this more often

Orienteering race 17:21 [4] 2.5 km (6:56 / km) +95m 5:50 / km

Oceania Sprint Champs

Much prefer a forest sprint to an urban sprint. Started off alright, but then visited 4 before 3, and lost a bit of time on 8 and 9. Never really felt all that fast out there, and struggled for direction a little, but foot an knee much better today.

Orienteering race 1:04:44 [4] 7.9 km (8:12 / km) +270m 7:00 / km

Aus Relay Champs

Foot and knee were pretty painfull, and never really felt like I was running fast. Lost two major lots of time, at least 1 of which I can blame on the map.

Note

Foot felt a bit better today, so trussed it up in some boots and went up Mt Feathertop. Perfect sunny day with no wind, and a bit of snow around. Ended up carrying down a pack for a party of 2 after one of them twisted an ankle on the way down Bungalow Spur, but it was not so good with the sore knee.

Orienteering race 56:09 [3] 4.9 km (11:28 / km)

Oceania Middle Distance

Foot still very sore, and unable to put much weight on it, but deceided to go out given that this event was advertised as not to be missed.

Started off very slowly, but didn't make any major errors. Got caught by Toph, and managed to somehow stick with him for a few controls, until the foot gave way and I smacked my knee and ankle on something. Hobbled around the rest of the course but completely screwed up 18.

Nice area. Can't wait to get back there and have a proper crack at it.
