Orienteering race 35:59 [4] 7.0 km (5:08 / km)

Headed to Bendigo for some sunshine. Nice course with plenty of opportunity for errors, and fast running. Lost some time on control 2 and 3, being careless with direction, and was caught by Toph at 4. Struggled to keep him in sight, and had left myself with a lot of work to do after coming climbing way too high to 7.

Lovely day out.

Run 20:00 [3]

Cold, wet, dark and miserable run after work

Orienteering race 1:15:56 [3] 14.6 km (5:12 / km) +295m 4:43 / km

Pretty ordinary course. No real route choice, as all legs had been set to avoid any running on tracks at all costs. Bit annoyed at the start after encountering some silly organisational viewpoints at the start. Got lucky on the misplaced control at 10, after seeing someone else punch. What is so hard about putting a control on a feature with a tag that has been checked by the controller and course setter?

Almost ran to the wrong controls a few times with some unusual crossovers.

State series events days may be numbered, with almost as many people attending a well organised Bendigo event the day before on a quality area. Perhaps the next one will be better.

Also not sure what benefit, other than saving a few dollars entering online offers. Still have to fill out almost the same amount of paperwork at rego, and offers little or no time savings for entrants.
