Orienteering race 1:00:33 [5] 6.8 km (8:54 / km) +93m 8:20 / km

Day 2 NTOA Texas Stampede: Nice weather, sunny - interesting terrain though more briars and less visibility than day 1
Blew number 3: (5-6 minute error) 2 route choice options and opted for more direct choice. Hard time reading whether contours up or down, poor following compass bearing and ended up on trail which was the other route choice option. Compounded mistake by missing reentrant on trail as it did not cross trail. Beyond that a pretty clean run.
Winner: Rick Breseman (COC) 56+ mins
2nd overall

Day 1 Texas Stampede / InterScholastics Champs: Clements Scout Ranch nr Athens TX
Weather: cloudy and mild, but some heavy downpours
Minor Mistakes 1: went to control beyond stream and to west, 4: veered a bit to the south of control where there were other small rentrants not shown on map, 7: good initial, but later 1/3 went further south and the 2 minute error 10 -11 where I went down the wrong trail!, 13 - 14: got caught up at the deer fence and had to back track a bit.
Pleasant area, ran hard.

Texas Stampede / Interscholastics Champs: Clements Scout Ranch, Near Athens TX Sprints event
Unbelieveably mild 60 deg, after having been at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth 2 hours previously where it was close to freezing.
Good chance to blow off some cobwebs, but tired having traveled a lot in the past week. Only mistake - overshot 11 by about 100m.
Winner Tom Hollowell 12+ mins
