Cycling 36:34 [4] 9.5 mi (3:51 / mi)
slept:5.5 weight:195.4lbs shoes: Bike: Jamis Coda Comp - hybrid

6.25am: crappy nights sleep. Woke up at 3.40 and took an hour+ to get back to sleep, so late start, but actually saw the sunrise and the orangey glow to the light over the river and city was very picturesque. Pushed hard on top gear the whole way round. Out 19.47, back 16.47. Good start to the day.

running 19:48 [5] 2.6 mi (7:37 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:195.2lbs shoes: Innov8 Road-X 255

10.00am: Very humid 77degF 80% humidity. Sunny, but sticky. Had a couple of people ahead as incentive so pushed hard all the way to Columbia Bridge. The innov8 road shoes feel good.

running (1.5) 11:39 [4] 1.5 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 Road-X 255

Columbia Bridge: 0.50 rest, then pushed reasonably hard back to Lloyd Hall.

running 8:03 [3] 1.0 mi (8:03 / mi)
shoes: Innov8 Road-X 255

1.55 water stop at Lloyd Hall then slower run home.
A good start to the month.

Stretching 10:00 [0]

Good stretch after run.

Note

Extremely sweaty after run and stretching. Carol then had me do my ice bucket challenge which felt pretty good to cool me down a bit.
The scary part is that in only 5.1 miles in this heat and humidity I lost 3.5lbs of sweat!!! Now onto drinking plenty of water and a protein drink.

Note

Drove up to Staten Island with Carol and took the ferry over to Manhattan and walked up to the 911 Memorial. It is extremely powerful and a very fitting memorial on many levels. The 911 Museum itself is pretty haunting and certainly brought back vividly that day which will never be forgotten. The memorial itself reminded me of how Maya Lynn's Vietnam Memorial was really such a departure from the typical memorial until that point.
Taking the Staten Island ferry was a pleasure, much easier than driving into Manhattan, finding parking etc. and a bargain. No parking fee and after 911 the ferry is free!
