DVOA Event- Batsto NJ: Green Course
First orienteering event since S6D at beginning of August. Nice to be out in the woods. Plan was to take it easy and if planar fasciitis played up I would walk/ stop. Bob Burg planned an excellent course requiring you to use accurate compass work and detailed contour reading. Had a dreadful time with first control, and attacked it 3 times, 2 of them walking in from attackpoint before I finally found it. What should have taken 3- 3.5 mins took 22.47!! I should have aimed off to the left, obviously a little rusty. Apart from that I then had a pretty clean run. It was good practice to go straight route for most controls reading the subtle contour detail. A lot of blueberry bushes to run through. While not fast, I was pleasantly surprised that I was running more than I thought I would. The weather was perfect. Overall, apart from the first control, happy with the run and it was great to be out in the woods orienteering again. Now at home, the foot hurts.
