11.45am: HalfDramathon. Speyside, Scotland: 1/2 marathon between Tamdhu distillery to Glenfiddich distillery along the Speyside Way (old railway line). The first 3 miles were pretty muddy, then across the River Spey and it was relatively flat through Aberlour and Craigellachie, then a long slight incline up the valley for the last 4 miles. With no real training, the goal was to see how far I could run, then walk the rest. The scenery along the way in the autumn colors was beautiful. Around the 7 mile mark I had to walk a bit then recharged continued running until the beginning of the incline. The next mile or so it was jog a bit, walk a bit more, then after that it was just walk at a good pace. Walked hard and jogged a bit at Balvenie distillery as wanted to beat 2.30hrs. Turned out course was shorter and I did 2.22.25. Considering circumstances, I am happy with that and Carol came in not much later at 2.36.xx. When I signed up, my aim was the 2 hour mark, but the important thing was to do it and have fun. It was great having Alison as our cheer leader. I would do it again, with the proper training.
