Wednesday Oct 31

Running 16:00 [2]
Run to work, up the hill to Walkley then down South Rd.
Running 35:00 [3]
Run home, with some spiral inspired hills and a few fastish efforts. Legs felt tired - there were loads and loads of people in fancy dress. Favourite was a guy/girl in a monkey suit.
C • is that a guy and girl in a... 2

Tuesday Oct 30

Note
The new cycle to work only takes 13 minutes but the hill up to University means that you arrive with a nice sweat on!
Running 50:00 [3]
Run to track and back - very late getting there and was secretly hoping that the session would have already started....no such luck.
Running intervals 20:00 [5]
1700, 1600, 1500, 1200 (supposed to have been a 1400). Really struggled tonight, but based on my training (or lack of it) in the last month I deserved to.

Monday Oct 29

Note
Entertaining my parents and more box sorting, table purchasing shenanigans.

Sunday Oct 28

Running 1:20:00 [3]
Steadyish run with OJ. Hardly anyone about (apart from Magic).

Saturday Oct 27

Note
Spent the day mostly emptying boxes and struggling to construct flat pack furniture - I really didn't realise moving house could be this much fun.

Friday Oct 26

Note
Moving house - what a pain. James H was a star and really helped - Craney was non existent and therefore rubbish.

Novelty of driving a transit van up and down the streets of Sheffield quickly wore off.

Thursday Oct 25

Running 30:00 [2]
Really busy at work, so only got to get out for a 30 minute session.
Note
Ash gig - with Clare, OJ and Craney + others. Good fun - hadn't been a gig in ages. OJ ran off early, whilst Craney, Clare and I stayed for a few extra drinks.

Wednesday Oct 24

Running 50:00 [3]
Running at lunchtime - up through parks. Did 2X10 min efforts during the session, just to make me concentrate.

Tuesday Oct 23

Running 30:00 [3]
Warming up and down before hills.
Running hills 20:00 [5]
Missed track due to work - punished myself by doing spirals (out, back and then out again). Felt quite good.

Monday Oct 22

Cross training 1:00:00 [1]
Pilates - there were 4 blokes today which was exciting (for the other girls obviously). Struggled to do an exercise that involved balancing on my side.
Running 30:00 [2]
Steady run after Pilates - including 1XHeroes.

Sunday Oct 21

Orienteering race 30:00 [5]
Senior Homes relay. Fun, enjoyable (but steep and tough) courses. Spent most of my time trying to reel Ant Squire in (after a mistake on number 3) and staying ahead of Nails (after he made a mistake on a different number 3). Succeeded on the former but failed on the latter.

Felt ok running but still had no zip - lungs fine with my legs the limiting factors.

Saturday Oct 20

Orienteering race 1:18:00 [5]
SHI individuals. Had not been thinking about this race at all during the week - normally a sign of a bad run looming - but actually was pretty pleased with my orienteering. Two small misses (of 1 minute each) and maybe a couple more on route choice.

Was not running at the same speed as the top 3 - legs just not up for terrain running at the moment.

Pleased to score for England.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Friday Oct 19

Note
(rest day)
Travel to the Brecon Beacons with Mike S et al. Fun journey listening to pearls of wisdom from the curmudgeon that is Dr Nails.

Thursday Oct 18

Running 1:15:00 [3]
Run to Hallamshire and then farlek with the boys. This involved mainly running up hill. Good session and we stayed roughly all together. Need to start wearing more reflective kit - we all looked like burglars today. Al challenged me to a run up Heroes at the end - forgotten how tough it was.

Wednesday Oct 17

Cross training 25:00 [3]
Legs and bums for 30 minutes before weights.
C • thighs and bums... 1
S+C 30:00 [3]
Squats (front, back, single leg) + physio exercises. Felt ok - tried to focus on technique.

Tuesday Oct 16

Running 45:00 [3]
Run to and back from track. Started to rain as soon as I stood outside the office for the first time.
Running intervals 25:00 [5]
1x1700, 1x1600, 1x1500, 1x1000 with 1 minute recovery. Tried to stay on track for 5 minute milling pace - managed it for all but the 1500 effort.

Monday Oct 15

S+C 1:00:00 [3]
Pilates session at S10. I was again the only bloke - but managed to get there on time this week. Definitely felt that I was working better, but could get a lot stronger.
C • The only bloke?? 2

Sunday Oct 14

Orienteering 1:00:00 [5]
Compass sport cup race. Felt tight from yesterdays session but pleased to be out. Psyched up for the race by listening to MC Hammers "can't touch this" on the radio - 3 times.

Struggled to enjoy the orienteering race, but it was good to have a map in my hand again. Messed up one control really badly (or really well?). No where near GG - time to get my finger out.

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Saturday Oct 13

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]
Running intervals 20:00 [3]
Felt guilty after avoiding Ian's sessions during the week so went out to the Saturday session in penance.

10 minute effort with a 2.30 recovery then 8 minutes. Felt ok, but tired and Almand got the better of me by the end. Good session.

Friday Oct 12

S+C 15:00 [3]
Talking to Dave from Hallamshire about new programme. He looked at my squats etc and I was doing ok. Weights felt tougher than when I have been doing them at S10 - maybe stiffness from last night but I suspect that the bar I am using at S10 is not 20kg - bugger I am obviously not as strong as I thought!

Spoke briefly to the new sports psyc that I will be working with Ian Maynard. This will be exciting because he has worked with a lot of olympic medallists in the past.
C • cars to SHIs 1
Running 15:00 [3]
Running down and to Hallamshire.

Thursday Oct 11

Running 1:30:00 [3]
Run and back to Hallamshire then 1:4 session (Mike and I sneaked out before could get roped into a farlek session). Hill still felt tough on ascent, but the cruise downhill was a lot easier than last week. This will be really tough in the dark.

Wednesday Oct 10

S+C 30:00 [3]
Fun and games at S10 - spotted some other runners (easy to spot because they also looked puny and were lifting smallish weights) from the Uni.
Cross training 30:00 [3]
30 minute, toning and sculpting my buttocks and upper thighs on the glide thingy machine.

Tuesday Oct 9

Running 45:00 [3]
Fastish run from work at lunchtime. Was hoping to get to intervals but just a bit too busy.

Sunday Oct 7

Running 1:15:00 [5]
Ian Hodgson relay - leg with Craney. Felt rubbish for last few days fighting off a cold or something, but seemed to run well on the leg itself.

Saturday Oct 6

Running 1:15:00 [2]
Easy run with Mike and Mat

Thursday Oct 4

Running 1:20:00 [3]
1:4 session with Hallamshire - totally killed myself on the downhill - hip flexors never been so sore.

Wednesday Oct 3

S+C 30:00 [3]
Cross training 30:00 [3]

Tuesday Oct 2

Running race 25:00 [5]
12 x 400m in 68 - 70 pace. Hard session - foot felt ok.

Monday Oct 1

Cross training 30:00 [3]
S+C 30:00 [3]
