orienteering race 3:09:24 [3] 12.5 km (15:09 / km)
ahr:145 max:173 shoes: montrail hurricane ridge

Giants Rib Raid with Marty and Heather. Last minute entry.

Decided to do the 10 k option as we weren't able to get away for the full day with the kids. Always great to be out and Don't get lost races are always good.

Was working the 24 hours prior to the race and I got held up at the end of shift so I was booking it to get to the start line. It was like an adventure race with sleep deprivation! I got to the race with about half an hour to go and get ready. Got my gear together and looked at the maps and it was ready to go. Decided to do 2 cp's on the way out and then 3 on the way back.

Very little nav on the 10 k, but if you don't read the directions then there tends to be a little more. That's what we did. After running a pretty clean race we decided that we should do the "walk the line section" as it was the number after 17.. 18, 19, and 20 were all there. It didn't make sense that you went from 17 to 21 and then back home. But then again I should have read the directions as you went from 3 to 17 or something like that. Anyways lesson learned, it was sort of fun being the first through that section which we found a little tricky. Got turned around on the last one on top of the ridge. Took to long to relocate, but once we did then it was no problem. I guess they call it "WALK" the line for reason. It would have saved us time I think.

Nice to see everyone, too bad we couldn't have stayed around to chat more.

Mountain Biking (road) 1:03:01 [2] 22.5 km (2:48 / km)
ahr:128 max:154

awesome night for a road ride, just sleeves and legs riding with Vin. Nice to be out on the bike again, not too many hills heading west from G town. took it easy, don't want to bake the legs before the race. Finally getting over this cold too. It's almost been 2 weeks! Still legs don't feel as good as my lungs right now, and I'll have to do some more base training to get them back up to snuff.

Some hike a bike through Limetown, really nice little area and then back on the road chatting about racing and world politics. Good relaxing ride. Need these once in a while.

trail running 1:18:21 [2]
ahr:133 max:159

basically a similar run from the other day with Gally. With my crew for the GRR. Worked on different team work stuff and some towing.

This post should be reassuring for Gally if he compares times and HR's.

Low intensity more talk about team work.

strength training (crossfit) 12:51 [3]
ahr:153 max:167

ahhhh I wish this cold would go away, but I can't stay inside. It's been a week without the gym and pullups and pushups, so I had to go.

did the 150 workout. felt tired and slow, but glad to have done it.

Had to stop in between the 25 clean and presses, and choke down the barf. Lots of fun.

Need to recruit some workout buddies as everyone else is either plugged into their ipods, watching t.v. or doing sodokus. With these workouts, some motivation is needed, and a training partner helps for sure.

strength training warm up/down (crossfit) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony Hurricane

standard crossfit warmup

basic joint mobility
3 sets of 10 dips, pull ups, sit ups, and dips.
