| Running 40:00 [2] 7 km (5:43 / km) | ||

| First run in Parc Jarry, the nearest park near my apartment (about 5min). Flat park with a lot of sport terrains, a lake, and tracks. Not wonderful, but it's quiet and runnable - would make a nice but rather easy sprint map.
I definitely lack some practice. It seems everytime I run, I run too hard and get a stitch at some point. Not good. Except for my two first days, the weather is a bit chilly around here. The autumn is not very far (and let's not talk about the winter)

| Then I went to the Mont-Royal park, a big park in the middle of the town, on some big hills. Very nice and impressive. I dont have the figures for this "run", but it sure feels harder than flat running. Definitely my future spot of choice for training (with lots of hill climbing), as the Univserity of Montreal is on one side of the mountain.
And cherry on the cake, there is an O'map! A dream (apparently part of the university is on the map). Now I just have to get it.

| ...and touch down! Right now in Montreal. Quite a long and boring day, but the city and people seem very cool. | ||
| C • So that's why you won't be at practice...;-) 3 | ||

| Last running in Nantes before departure. I just stumbled upon a race notice in the paper a few days ago and decided it would be fun as a last commitment, especially since it was in La Gournerie, a nice park. It was not so much fun, as I started too quickly (as often, but in orienteering it's easier to slow down the pace than in pure running) and got a "slip stitch" (? point de côté) after only 1/4 in the race (okay, I had my breakfast only one hour before the race, I guess I have to improve on the race routine but... it was for the fun anyway...). Had to manage this stitch for the rest of the race, losing some rank until the sprint where I had some fresh legs (I wish I had the liver to stay with one of the first girls, couldn't :( ). I was quite surprised to see I have a higher speed in ascent than others, but slower on flat (because of the stitch, of course). Made me wish there was a lot more of quick up-and-down-hill (damn stupid stitch, still).
Not sure about the results, in the middle around the 120/150th rank (winning time ~36/38'). Not so bad if I consider the lack of previous training (vive la jeunesse !) I still prefer fell running, trail, and of course orienteering than this kind of regular race, but this is a good experience to see what's good/wrong and how I compare with regular runners. edit: results are online. 129th on ~330, 41th in my category (lots of veteran better than senior, so much for the young legs), and first time is 40'17". Wouhou! Not bad http://fondjede.free.fr/Index.php?P=LesFouleesApre...

| A mean loop around Gesvres. Not in the best shape, so I swing between easy and hard pace. | ||

| Note | ||
| Cleaning apartment. Finally seeing the end of tunnel! (Not that it was a very long tunnel, but still I was busy these last few days) | ||
| C • Where are you headed now? 2 | ||
Sunday Sep 16 | ||
| Note | ||
| Moving boxes from my apartment to my parents' house. | ||
Saturday Sep 15 | ||
| Note | ||
| Making boxes. Finished at 4am on Sunday morning. Uhhh.
Packing up crockery (had to look up this one) as a last stance was boring, but definitely quicker than I expected.

| Orienteering (Coaching) 4:00:00 [1] *** | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| This is the second time I do this kind of job: coaching teams during orienteering activities, as a "motivational" seminar. The first time was 3 years ago in Gâvre - quite difficult conditions, except for the restaurant afterwards. This second time was more fun even if still tiring: more experience, less people, and the terrain is quite nice for this kind of event (La Gournerie). By the way, it is also a great pleasure to see a map I did a few years ago finally used.
Back to making boxes. | ||

| Night Running 45:00 [2] 7.4 km (6:05 / km) | ||
| shoes: Cross XT Decathlon | ||
| A little night running near home (last occasion with the O lamp). Beautiful night, clear and full of stars (cant see the Milky Way though, I guess because of city lights).
I didn't have so much "la tête dans les étoiles" (head in the clouds), but I got caught by a root and had a hard fall. A little sprain on the left ankle, some bruises and grazes on the hands, right knee and other, but everything feel ok now.
