Friday Aug 31

Running 1:04:00 [3] 12.9 km (4:58 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 1090
Last day at work, just warm and a little sun, so my feet dragged me outside for a little run. Extra-sensitive man was always in charge, which means any discomfort anywhere in the legs made me slow down, to avoid another injury. Then O'brainwaves took over the rest of my body, making me cruise at different speeds through different terrains, with lots of turning. Run with fun...

Wednesday Aug 29

Running 32:00 [3] 6.6 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 1090
First time since my injury I can finish with no pain in the knee. However, I 1) didn't take time to run while in Paris for 5 days; 2) didn't run more than half an hour. 1 tells me that perhaps I have lost some time, but 2 tells me that perhaps it is not finished. Conclusion: no definite conclusion. Cool.

Wednesday Aug 22

Event: French Championship 2007

Sunday Aug 19

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel 1090
I felt absolutely no pain in the knee for the last three days, so I figured it was time to take some fresh air. Unfortunately it becomes a little sore after 30' of run: small, not impeding, but it's there and I can feel it now. So I should keep it easy (easier than today) for the next days.

Tuesday Aug 14

Note
On the road, back home.

Monday Aug 13

Hiking 30:00 [0] ***
shoes: Trail New Balance
Menez Hom. Made a small trip to the summit and around, field checking the open area from the top (map has changed with recent forest fire). Then had to wait more than 2 hours, as the young guys whom I took along had a hard time in the low zone.
Hiking 1:00:00 [0]
shoes: Trail New Balance
Fort des Capucins, Rade de Brest. An abandoned fortification from the XIX century, protecting the entrance of the Rade. Impressive piece with erect cliffs, a bridge above the sea, underground facilities

Sunday Aug 12

Hiking 2:00:00 [1] ***
shoes: Trail New Balance
Huelgoat. Hiking around the impressive chaos, la roche tremblante (didn't know how to shake it) and Camp d'Arthus (old traces of a Gaul oppidum). Some scouts were performing an "orienteering" activity, that is, follow an azimut and find controls without map - well, poor guys, they were young (less than 15 I guess) and some seem quite lost.

Saturday Aug 11

Canoe 1:00:00 [1] **
Since running was out of options, we took a small trip on the lake of Guerlédan.
Hiking 2:00:00 [1] ***
shoes: Trail New Balance
Le Breil. South part of Quénécan Forest. Nice white slope, complex and unpassable cliffs, chaos, another great map in perspective!

Malvran. Going back to where the championship stood in May. It is still my preferred terrain in Britain, except for those rocky area with ferns, which are hard to understand due to the drawing - but next year we should have a better map with a good drawing.
Night Running 45:00 [2] ****
shoes: Trail New Balance
Malvran. Night session for fun. Got a long look at stars. However, it was pretty clear that something was wrong with my knee. Bummer! Next days would be walking only.

Thursday Aug 9

Orienteering long 1:30:00 [2] *** 8 km (11:15 / km) +250m 9:44 / km
shoes: Falcon VJ
La Moutte. Certainly the most interesting area of Paimpont for orienteering. Old forest with runnability from average to good, and lots of interesting points for variability: the old quarry, some "macro-relief"...
Running 54:00 [2] ** 6 km (9:00 / km) +200m 7:43 / km
shoes: Trail New Balance
Val sans retour. We took some time to visit the "old stones" from Paimpont (tombeau de Merlin, fontaine de jouvence, tombeau des géants) and it was rather deceiving, unimpressive. Except for the Val sans retour (which I already knew), which offers a beautiful landscape. Kind of catch up the other landmarks.

Wednesday Aug 8

Orienteering long 2:40:00 [2] *** 14 km (11:26 / km) +200m 10:40 / km
shoes: Falcon VJ
Comper, long run trying to relocate on the old map (80s). Very nice area with rocks and cliffs, runnable, within small valleys. Other area are green and not very interesting.

Saturday Aug 4

Running warm up/down 16:00 [2] 3 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Cross XT Decathlon
Warm up at La Gournerie, never seen so many people walking, playing, fishing, picknicking, resting... Summer is here! (never seen so few people training by the way, too hot?)
Running (Threshold 3x10') 1:01:00 [4] 12 km (5:05 / km)
shoes: Cross XT Decathlon
Threshold session 3x10', 5' rest in Chézine park. Next week should be a full week of O training with a friend, it should be ok as I feel fine.

Thursday Aug 2

Orienteering long (Free running) 1:35:00 [3] ** 14 km (6:47 / km) +300m 6:08 / km
shoes: Falcon VJ
Forêt des Pays de Monts. Distance is approximative as I stopped my GPS by accident while running.

Got up very early, at 4:30. Not sufficient to be in time for some night O, still I had a nice look at the sunrise from the big dune.
