Sunday Jan 27 | ||
| Running long 1:12:00 [2] 12 km (6:00 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| Trying a northern way, through more parks and even a little wood. Same as usual apart from that, that is not especially interesting (a good view on Mount Royal with the setting sun) and quite cold whenever wind was in coming ahead

| (rest day) | ||
| Ahem, normally today would be a day for a tempo/intervals training, like last week. But too busy with a paper deadline coming next friday. So let's call it a rest day :), even if there is plenty of them around here.
Hope to get back in normal life mode this weekend.
Saturday Jan 19 | ||
| Running long (Snow Running) 1:07:00 [3] 11.6 km (5:47 / km) +280m 5:09 / km | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| Long running on the Olmsted track up and around the Mount Royal. Lots of people than I am accustomed for and one of those winter day, with a shyie sun, snow everywhere and fortunately not so cold.

Wednesday Jan 16 | ||
| Running intervals (Threshold/Tempo) 52:00 [3] 9 km (5:47 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| Intervals training with the group. Since this is semi/marathon training group, all intervals will be at threshold/tempo (or around, with different kind of intervals). 3' at 4:08, then 6' at 4:22, then 3' at 4:25 - a bit uneven since for the first time it was difficult to coordinate the whole group.
It is certainly something I would not do alone, simply because it is too cold. But in a group it's much easier. Cool group anyway, now I must work out my asocial thing to get to know some people (there is around 20 of them, most of it know themselves from previous years, so it is a bit hard to recognize faces - what looks like more than a runner than another runner with the same outfit, even with different colors?)
| Stretch/Core Strength 5:00 [1] | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| I am not sure if this is important at all, but since before the intervals we did a short session of running school - I log it. Actually it was perfect since it the usual moves I do between warm up and race. | ||
Sunday Jan 13 | ||
| Running long (Road) 1:35:00 [2] 15 km (6:20 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| First group training at Parc Lafontaine. Long jog at easy pace just to get some marks. Nice sunny weather and a bit frisky - but I suppose I will get used to it, as my acclimatation so far was good. | ||
| Note | ||
| Funny, it has been exactly a year since I first logged a training on attackpoint. I guess it could be a good time to take a look back on 2007, which saw a few small changes in my training habits: of course the training log, then the GPS which helped me to better target some of my training - and finally motivated me to prepare a training plan and trying to follow it (ahem, it does not appear as so, but it was in the time leading to the Jukola, with quite a lot of competitions before that)
Err, that's enough of retrospective, I'm not an history guy as far as sport goes, and despite those changes last year has been a bit chaotic between the phd and the move to Canada. In fact, my training plan has always been chaotic, except perhaps for those few months in Vannes, where I had nothing to do in the evening that running along the sea coast (damn good memory)
Saturday Jan 5 | ||
| XC Skiing (Classic) 1:00:00 [3] 5.8 km (10:21 / km) +120m 9:22 / km | ||
| Holidays are definitely bad for my daily life. I go to bed very late and today, didn't get up until noon. It also means that I didn't go up to the mountain until 16h00, when the sky was becoming dark. Perhaps it was a good thing because there was not so many people on ski tracks, and I am still unable to brake while skiing downhill. But then it also means I manage some pretty good stuff today, avoiding most of tentative falls. I am glad to see some progress - and skiing in the lightly dark woods, by the headlight, is wonderful.
Damn, I forget the GPS link: http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/471914...
Friday Jan 4 | ||
| Running 28:00 [1] 5 km (5:36 / km) | ||
| shoes: Asics Gel 1090 | ||
| Yet another 'Bordée de neige' on the New Year's Day, followed by 2 sunny but very cold days (down to -20 and less). Now temp are rising up (but no sun) so I made a small run to Parc Jarry, see how cool it can be under the snow blanket. Well it's cool but apart from this... Parc Jarry has this wonderful property to make me wonder what I can say about such dumb run. | ||
