Orienteering race (Street O) 1:04:00 [4] ** 14.5 km (4:25 / km) +115m 4:15 / km
17c shoes: Asics Gel 1090

First race of the season. Traditionnally it's a long o in the streets of Montreal, because forest are not totally clear of snow. Technically very easy so I kept a good pace right from beginning, and made no mistake except for 10 seconds in a control approach I didn't read ahead. It's pretty clear from the pace graph: each stop is a control :) Above all it made an interesting focus exercise, with the mind needing focus again and again after 2/3 of the course I think.

I put 2 stars as technical intensity because, even if it is a real O map at 1/15000, most of the course was in the streets, except for a loop in a big park.

Oh, and, I win! 2 minutes margin, so it was tight. It's not gonna be the same pace nor the same difficulty (in inverse order) next time, but at least it helps to build my self-confidence.

Running 22:00 intensity: (7:00 @2) + (15:00 @3) 4.6 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel 1090

Small, fast run at Parc Jarry to keep the blood flowing, after partying yesterday and before running tommorow. And today is Tiomila!

Stretch/Core Strength 5:00 [1]

Orienteering intervals 1:10:00 intensity: (42:00 @2) + (28:00 @3) **** 13.0 km (5:23 / km) +380m 4:42 / km
shoes: MT800 New Balance

Was planning for a 5x7' threshold offtracks, then I decided it would be more fun with a map, so the intervals where very irregular. Although I did not plan a course, I had fun (and difficulty) reading the map of Mount Royal at 1/10000e. Couldn't test my routines but still interesting to test different speeds anf flow. That's the problem: with all this training without orienteering, I am going too fast to orienteer. Better be careful during the upcoming races. Also this session did end up a bit abruptly when pouring rain soaked the park.
