cycle 3:00:00 [2]

mtb in Joaqun Miller Park/Redwood Park (West Ridge Trail)
Legs definitely shot from previous week

Saturday Apr 19, 2008 #

Run 3:26:00 [2] 16.5 mi (12:29 / mi)

very hilly trail run - 3000 ft of climbing with some strong women
Tilden Park to EBMUD land (getting lost) to Redwood Park.
It was very beautiful, but my legs were completely trashed from all my cycling in the week. Although my avg speeds weren't high (stop and go in city commuting), I did gun it a lot during my crazy bike commutes, especially during accelerations after stop lights. That's not the type of riding I've normally done.

swim/pool running 30:00 [2] 1.6 km (18:45 / km)

swam Temescal pool.

cycle 1:10:00 [2] 17.0 mi (4:07 / mi)

cycled home - found much better route, thanks to my colleague. took caltrain from sunnyvale to california ave

cycle 1:10:00 [2] 18.0 mi (3:53 / mi)

took caltrain to mtn view and cycled same as last night.

Note

Ha ha - instead of Métro, boulot, dodo: it seems to be
vélo, boulot, dodo.
I will be putting in LONG hours here. We have aggressive deadlines to meet. Such is the way it goes at a battery start-up.
They cater in lunch and dinner, plus load us up with tons of fresh fruit, granola bars, cliff bars, etc.
Actually, riding home at 9 pm was pretty good. There was little traffic and the temperatures were mild.
I passed by some high-tech areas (Cisco, Agilent, etc.) and saw a LOT of people standing and waiting for buses, etc. There are more people waiting for trains at 9:45 pm than at 7am.
The weather is spectacular, though. Just need to get through these first couple of weeks....

Run 40:00 [2] 4.5 mi (8:53 / mi)

around business park. Leg hurt

cycle 45:00 [2] 13.0 mi (3:28 / mi)

cycled from work to Tasman station - then around Palo Alto after CalTrain

Thursday Apr 17, 2008 #

cycle 35:00 [2] 8.0 mi (4:22 / mi)

i was going to try to cycle all the way again, but got up too late
i took a caltrain to mtn view, then 2x VTA trains.
the VTA trains are SOOOO slow

Run 36:00 [3] 4.6 mi (7:50 / mi)

around Kato business park
beautiful day!

Wednesday Apr 16, 2008 #

cycle 1:42:00 [2] 27.0 mi (3:47 / mi)

rode from Palo Alto to work, with lots of traffic and slightly getting lost

cycle 2:00:00 [3] 30.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

oof!
i sure had a wild time getting home. added 10 miles to a 20 mile ride!
passed by all sorts of crazy stuff, like Yahoo campus, NASA bayshore, and the biggest friggin Lockheed Martin complex I've seen yet.
i'm surprised i made it home

Note

I've had a lot of adventures in the last several days!
Work will be very challenging and exciting. I am just feeling the pain of the first couple of days, on top of navigating a new city.
The company caters in lunches AND dinners, which says something about the kinds of hours I'll be putting in.
Oh well, I'll save a couple hundred dollars a month on food, and I don't have to start so early any more.
When I stop and exhale, I do feel pretty excited about being here.
