pm: At Genetics Fitness in Warners Bay. Tried to do as much as possible of my normal workout in a strange gym. Couldn't do everything as they didn't have all the equipment I need and the gym was pretty busy

am: Tried out my old Glendale morning run - in the bush around the Glendale map. Lots of hills but no problem with the right groin. Stopped and walked the last 400m or so cos I didn't want to tempt fate by doing too much more :-) Quite pleased that it all went smoothly. The hills were a bit of a struggle but not too bad considering I haven't run many hills in the last 18 months!
Prob the last time I ever do this run so it was a bit nostalgic to run some of the hills I used to do 30 years ago - they certainly haven't become any smaller over the years. Used to run them with a smidgen more power in those days :-)

am: Long ride along the river to the Tonkin Hwy bridge, then much stuffing about in the streets on the way back, followed by an extra trip out to Dalkeith and back. Somehow managed to get in over 2.5 hrs. Was pretty warm. I think I've earned some Xmas fare :-)

am: Did my current favorite ride to UWA along the river, then anticlockwise around Perth Water and back. Hard going into the easterly on the way out; an absolute hoot on the way home. Sat on 40kph most of the way back along the river and got up 44 chasing a guy on a road bike along Riverside Dr. Would liked to have had a few more gears!

am: Ride in the rain(!) out to Guildford and return. Unusually for Perth in December, it rained for most of the ride. Consequently, got rather wet and cold.

am: In Kings Pk. Same run as Thurs but quite a bit better today. Completed the run (as compared to Thurs when i stopped a couple of hundred metres from the end) and still did a faster time. Cut down the voltaren and no complaint from the right groin.

md: Tried out the Goodlife gym at Osborne Pk. hmm ... not quite my cup of tea. Too many posturing muscle heads (!) and they don't have the right type of equipment for me to do all my balancing exercises.

am: Slightly longer than usual Sat morning ride. This time through the city to the river at East Perth near the Windan Bridge, up river to Tranby House, around the streets back to Windan Bridge, then Burswood, Causeway, Riverside Dr, UWA and home.
Nice tailwind along Mounts Bay Rd:-) Up to 42 on this bit hauling in a big group of road cyclists.

Couldn't ride this morning because the tradesman doing our verandah rocked up unexpectedly (and very early) this morning. Didn't fit in a ride this afternoon for various reasons (including lack of motivation!) and then almost missed out on the gym, but managed to squeeze in all the junk involving weights before being turfed out of the gym at 7.

am: Run in Kings Pk. Felt like crap but that's OK because the right groin was good, again. Still taking voltaren before the run, but think I should be able to start easing myself off it soon. Maybe, just maybe, I'm finally over this injury ... well, actually, I am over it, totally, but it's hanging around like a bad smell :-)

pm: Evening run in Kings Pk. Warm and humid but not too hot. Voltaren again before the run and the groin was well behaved.
Slightly longer than last time because I had to detour around the barricades that've been set up for the concerts at the Pioneer Womens memorial.

am: In Kings Pk. A repeat of the last few runs, BUT with a little extra at the end. Right groin was fine so I thought I'd add a few hundred metres at the end. Might be ready to start thinking about increasing the distance if it keeps on improving.

am: Long ride out to the Swan valley via Guildford. As far as the Mallard Duke cafe. Nice morning for it - cool and overcast with hardly any wind. Started earlier this time so the traffic wasn't too bad in the first half. Still too many boneheads driving around in cars for my liking though. Nearly got cleaned up by one clown who came barrelling out of a driveway without looking. He was about to drive over a dedicated cyclepath (and me) without stopping or even slowing...dickhead. If i hadn't taken evasive action I would have been plastered against the drivers-side door.

am: Nice cool morning and relatively little wind for a change so I went for a ride to UWA, along the river to the Narrows, and then South Perth, Riverside Dr and home. Nice to be able to ride along the river without getting blown away!!

am: In Kings Pk. Took some voltaren before the run and the right groin was well behaved again. So much so that I didn't feel any tightness or discomfort. Wasn't tempted to continue much beyong 35 min though.
