Running race 32:17 [4] 8.2 km (3:56 / km)

am: WAMC Darlington 8k in association with the half mara. Wasn't expecting too much in this race given lack of sparkle in recent weeks. Felt sluggish and stiff at the start and couldn't really stride out that freely. R glute min and med also complained in the first couple of km. Had no real idea of how I was going at this stage. The 3k mark (12:26) was the only one I saw and the time seemed pretty slow but it was hard to gauge because it was uphill all the way from 1k to 3k. Missed the half-way turn around after one of the marshals pointed me in the wrong direction and ended running a couple of hundred bonus metres. Probably would have run about 31:30 without the extras.
Really needed a longer warm-up

Running warm up/down 17:00 [2] 3.0 km (5:40 / km)

am: About 6min warm up (couple of laps of the oval and a few run throughs) and 11min warm down around the streets (about 2k)

Saturday Mar 21, 2009 #

Running 38:38 [3] 7.8 km (4:57 / km)

am: Couldn't be bothered doing that much this morning so I just cruised around Shenton and Kings Pk.

Gym 52:00 [2]
weight:78.3kg

md: Usual junk at SportsMed Subi. Quite a few knuckleheads in residence this morning. In a small gym it becomes a bit of a pain when a couple of people starting hogging the equipment or getting in the way with their floor exercises.

Running 31:00 [3] 6.4 km (4:51 / km)

am: Recovery run. Kings Pk. This is more like it should have been on Monday.

Thursday Mar 19, 2009 #

Running warm up/down 19:36 [3] 3.8 km (5:09 / km)

am: To the Kokoda track for an abbreviated hill session. I wanted to give my quads a chance to recover but didn't want go without some hill training so I thought I'd do a half session.

Running hills 12:12 [4] 1.04 km (11:44 / km)

am: Kokoda track x 4. Felt pretty much like normal and could have gone on to finish the 8 - the only problem would have been the recovery afterwards and in the following days. I suspect that doing a full session today would have prolonged the quad tiredness that I've experienced over the last few days.

Running 52:44 [3] 10.8 km (4:53 / km)

am: 11k loop through Shenton and around Kings Pk. Ran like a total slug. Haven't felt so heavy and sluggish for a long time. Quads still feeling tired. Hammies decided to join in this morning and to top it off the right knee complained quite a bit at the start. Obviously taking longer to recover from Sun than I would have liked.
Rain was nice though. The regrowth in the burnt out part of Kings park seems to have appreciated it too. The Zamia palms have shot up almost overnight and are now just about double the size they were a couple of days ago.

Spinning 33:00 [2]

pm: Quads were a bit stiff at the start but gradually warmed up.

Tuesday Mar 17, 2009 #

Running 42:10 [3] 8.5 km (4:58 / km)

am: Fairly slow old run through Shenton and around Kings Pk. Quads still feeling it from the weekend. Feet are a bit sore as well.

Gym 1:01:00 [2]
weight:77.3kg

pm: Usual gym. SportsMed Subi

Monday Mar 16, 2009 #

Running 32:21 [3] 6.4 km (5:03 / km)

am: Recovery run in Kings Pk. Quads were a bit tired this morning. Not sore at all, just fatigued. Seems that endurance in my quads has improved to the stage where, even though I'm utilising them more and more, I'm not hitting the point of extreme fatigue on my long runs any more.

Core stability 38:00 [1]

pm: Old core and postural
