Running race 33:15 [4] 8.0 km (4:09 / km)

am: Marathon club race at Darlington. Started in the middle of the field because I didn't want to get too carried away at the start, so ended up being caught behind the masses in the narrow sections in town. Then when we hit the everlasting gradual climb on the gravel of the old railway trail I was forced to manoeuvre past all the slower runners. Probably wasted a lot of energy here. The climb seemed to go on forever, and when we turned off onto the streets again there seemed to be many more climbs than I remember from last time I ran here in 2009. Needless to say was stuffed by the time I got to the turn-around and really didn't have much to give on the downhill run back to the finish. Just plugged away and eventually it was all over :-) Didn't feel like I'd run all that hard but the legs weren't really able to give any more either. Good to get in at least one race before the Bridges. Hopefully still enough time before then to improve a little more.

am: In Kings Pk with 18:27 of tempo on Hale Oval. Didn't really feel up for it today and couldn't match the pace from last week. Started out running about 4:10 ks and got it down to around 4:05s at the end. The intention was to do 20min of tempo, but the right VL started to complain near the end so I left it at 18 min.

am: Guildford ride. Through Bassendean on the way out and then through South Guildford on the way home. Was supposed to be a 2:45 ride but didn't feel up to it today - the bike felt like it weighed a couple of tonnes and the chain felt like it had glue on it :-)
