Bush Orienteering race (Scatter Event) 49:23 [3]9.12 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Teva cross country
Dryandra morning scatter event on a cold, wet day.
Did the long course so had to get 17controls out of 20.
Planned where to start when flipped the map over then bottled out when saw others running a different direction.More or less ran, followed Tooms most of the way but at least this time was map reading now and then as pace was slow enough to stop now and then to take a look then catch up.
Tooms pretty dam accurate on most of the legs and having us along wasnt really fair as should of won and would of won by alot more.We had tRicky along for the ride for about 12controls as well till at least he had some B's to go his own way and didnt do to bad.Enjoyed the run though.
MTB O race (Scott Scale 30) 1:55:34 [4]
shoes: Specialized Mtb
MTB O long course Dryandra not that long after the scatter foot O so had little break and weather wasnt any better. Was a stuggle to get to the start
Improved at least on what i have done of late but alot of stop starting all the time checking the map/tracks but wanted to limit major stuff ups for once.
Did punch control14 for 4 but realised at least so still got them in order.
Was pretty hard work out there, alot of over grown tracks to bash through with some hardly visable even when on them.Came 2nd to the nimble tRicky with MTBJen not that far behind which is a good hit out for her world champs soon.

Saturday Jul 26

MTB Ride (Scott Scale 30) 1:16:00 [3]
slept:5.5 shoes: Specialized Mtb
Mid morning ride on an old mtb 0 map i had of Dryandra.Did abit of nav practice(badly) and also some general riding around the place.Got kinda lost at one stage looking for next to nothing tracks that were supposed to be there but had grown over alot. Was getting confused alot in general mostly on the southern part of the map which wasn't what i wanted for tommorows race.
Was a nice and sunny day though and glad i went down to Dryandra early to do something.Good to be away from the city for a few days +do a multipule of races.Rest of the AR team was there(minus one Fletch)and one of the opposition members.

Bush Orienteering race (H2 Dryandra) 1:20:58 [4]
shoes: Teva cross country
Took on a longer course for once as didnt have to be any place after quickly + needed to be out there longer to learn more if i could?always say that then go blasting off and normally get lost within the first 10mins with a run and hope style.
Generally was very happy with my run today which i dont get to say much in foot O.No major stuff ups in my terms of stuff ups though area wasnt that hard with quite a few tracks criss crossing to use as points.Jt beat me easy though that was expected but at least i can say this time i spanked MTBJen back into her place and run down tRicky.(Not getting carried away though).Got a few fastest splits as well. Also used Jt's tips from the other week more which helped.
MTB Ride (Scott Scale) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Specialized Mtb
Bit more nav/map practice on the western part of the map.Alot of fallen logs/branches that side so was abit more tricky.
Really need to take in more when i look at the map when stopped as find it very hard to read once riding which results in stop start stop start all the time with little flow, specially on areas with tracks going every where or controls that arn't that far appart.
MTB O race (Scott Scale 30) 21:59 [4]
shoes: Specialized Mtb
Nite time sprint MTB O on a non too complex part of the map, though was for me in parts, was like looking into outer space trying to see some of the tracks sideways.Great little nite time blast around though.
Think i have more nuts riding at night than day time as throw caution to the wind more.Jt and tRicky beat me but had a good time.
Could do with those squillion $ lights they have, made all the diff i think :)

Friday Jul 25

Ski Paddle (Spirit Ski) 1:25:11 [3]
slept:8.0
Mid day paddle on the river from Banks to Ascot waters then back to Windan and home.Stuck to the northern bank to the ski area then the southern side to the turn point and the reverse on the return,Water was pretty sluggish in close making it harder and was pretty brown in colour.A little light drizzle at the start but nothing came of it.With luck it poured just as i got home.
