I rode with Nathan and Kel again today and it was tough. We met up at Ascot and rode along Guilford rd and got onto Tokin Hwy all the way to North Beach.
My goodness Nathan must of had a big bowl of pasta last night cause he was flying. I was hurting from the start and was way out of my comfort zone and had neggative thoughts of how i wont last 3 hours at this pace. Once we reached the coast we headed out past Mindarie. Thank god kel dropped a water bottle so we could stop for a second. We then started to chat and Im sure that slowed us down a bit...phew.

I was fine from here on, I think it was around 1.10mins that I stopped hurting. The way back was much easier and we took turns of rolling to the front which was nice. I thought we must of come home slower but Nathan said we actually were coming home stronger and faster. This must mean it really takes me a long time to warm up because I was hurting early doors. Avg 31.2km/hr

Today was hard but thats good for me. Myself and three other girls were pushed up into the fast lane today as our lane was over crowded. The main set was tough but it was even harder swimming in the fast lane.
1000m medium
500m firm
250m fast
150m fast
100m recovery
I led our small group of girls for the first 1km and for the 250m fast. I swam the 1km fast trying to keep up the same pace as the guys... we were all stuffed after this. The 500m was easier as I could follow someone else but the 250m fast hurt. The 150m fast wasn't too bad either.

This was a tough day in the pool and myself and the other three girls were pretty exhausted by the end but I still enjoyed the challenge.

Met up with Nathan and Kel from my swim squad and rode from Ascot along Sth Perth foreshore along to Matilda Bay Resturant and back. I only just found out Kel and Nath live very close to me and Kel has nearly the exact same program from Budgi as I do... pitty we haven't trained more together.

Ran around the bridges with Dougie from Burswood, over Wyndam bridge and the Narrows and back to Burswood. I always find it takes me a while to warm into these very flat runs but in general I felt ok.

gym and core 40:00 [3]

Did part of my core with Dougie at Burswood after my run and the other half at home. I needed the fit ball for the half I did at home. I also did 3x4 chins down at burswood completly unassisted and reasonable quality.

Note

I have made a decision to sacrifice chocolate, hot cross buns, alcohol and hot chips until Busso Half is over. I will also take my vitamins everyday and stretch at least 45mins per week.

I have had quite an emotional week with my sister going back to live in the UK for 18 months and also had Easter therefore I ate heaps of crap which makes me feel sick and sluggish.

I figure if I put it writing then Ill stick to it. Plus it tastes so much better when you dont eat it everyday : )

Again feeling sleepy on my way to swim training and felt fresh in the pool today. Our main set was 6x250m efforts. the first 250m had 50m fast and 200m medium then the second had 100m fast and 150m medium and the fast increased by 50m with the last two 250m being fast all the way. I led the 4th and 6th efforts and went flat out for both. It hurt and everybody behind me cursed me for setting the pace too fast... it felt good to have a little hit out.

Ran from home around the 6km river loop. My calves felt tight to start with but loosened by the end of it.

Tuesday Apr 10, 2007 #

I slept in a bit today and just felt like cruising around the river. I went to Uwa and back via South Perth foreshore. I also chatted to some old guys who were riding the same slow pace as me.

The usual in the gym. The chins felt like hard work today. 4x6 glute, leg press, seated row, incline bench press and lunges with hand weights.

Note

Apart from the slight hangover I feel like I recovered really well from the big weekend of training. The legs feel pretty good... quite surprising.

Monday Apr 9, 2007 #

Rode from home to MtLawly to pickup my car as I was too drunk to drive it home last night.

Had a little swim at City beach. I was supposed to go with my swim squad but decided to go by myself as I was feeling a little ill and hungover.

Sunday Apr 8, 2007 #

I rode from Perry Lakes past Challenge stadium, past Claremont pool, along the railway line to Cottosloe and along West Coast Hwy to Scarborough and back. It was fairly windy on the way back. Leg felt quite heavy for the first 20mins. Avg was abit slower today at 26.5km/hr and I also had a quick toilet stop at City Beach as I was busting to go and nearly wet my pants!!! Could of been good practice for Busso ha ha

run warm up/down 28:18 [3] 5.75 km (4:55 / km)

Warm up and down around Perry Lakes, ran off the bike so the 15min warm up felt sluggish but was surpisingly quick. Legs did feel heavy from yesterdays ride.

run intervals 32:00 [5] 8.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

I knew these would be tough and a bit slow with my heavy legs but I was expeting much worse. I was supposed to do this brick session yesterday and the long ride today but didn't work out... Im sure it would of been much easier that way.

Note

Steched for 5-10mins after the run and had a quick dip in the ocean. I think the legs needed it.
