Teering (Sprint Series) 19:55 [5] **** 3.91 km (5:06 / km) +46m 4:49 / km
(injured) shoes: Inov8 XTalon 190

Gladesville Hospital. Ran well - cold is still there but not affected too much, so no "ill" tick. Very good course which exposed a flaw in my technique. For many years now I've tended to take controls one at a time and left very little for planning ahead. Particularly in sprint events I concentrate on really picking up the speed after punching and running hard. Well that failed today. I had the direction planned to 6 on the way to 5 but after a few steps looking for a way through it became apparent there wasn't one and it was left or right, both fairly complex. I took the easier option right, but that was significantly longer (20 seconds +). Again failed to properly look at the exit from 8 and didn't get the straight ahead short cut (20 seconds). But worse was to come.
Running to 10 I saw there was a long leg coming up and planned to go left. 10 was in a dark, dark wood and I turned the flag inside out to try and find the SI unit. It wasn't there so I began hunting for it. Eventually after what appeared like 30 seconds (probably 5) Ross Barr turned up and pointed it out to me on the ground. I punched and ran off: to 12. So, the panic induced caused me to drop the ball, but the underlying problem was the lack of a plan to get 11.
So, another mp which makes 3 in just over a year after none in the previous 20. Still, happy with the physical effort and underlying speed.

Horsley Park. DNS, putting out controls and looking for Wiz. Very sloppy conditions but quite fun at times. Got out of breath very easily on the steep sloppy climbs.

Tough session. Cold is sitting on chest now, so I won't be racing tomorrow.
