6 AM

Running 38:32 [4] 6.5 km (5:56 / km)
shoes: Brooks Beast 16

Run from Hongcun. First along the village, then onto some walls between fields, but they were very slippery, so I got onto a road along a nice lake with great views over the surrounding mountains. Kept it short and easy, because I still felt my legs after all the walking up and down mountains.

5 AM

Walking 2:10:00 [1] 6.5 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Brooks Beast 16

Early walk from the hotel up the Red Cloud Peak to watch the sunrise, along with loads of other people, but there were too many clouds to see the sun. A little bit of pink clouds was all we got. Then straight on to the cable car to get down the mountains, mostly in pouring rain.
1 PM

Walking 2:00:00 [1] 6.5 km (18:28 / km)
shoes: Brooks Beast 16

From Hongcun towards Tachuan and return with the family. Great walk through paddy fields and bamboo forests.

Walking 8:30:00 [1] 20.0 km (25:30 / km)
shoes: Brooks Beast 16

Walked pretty much all day through the Huangshan mountains, mostly up and down stairs. Unfortunately there was a lot of fog, so not as many great views as you'd get on a sunny day, but it was still a fantastic area to walk through.

6 AM

Running 50:31 [4] 11.04 km (4:35 / km)
shoes: Brooks Beast 16

Run around West Lake, Hangzhou. Even at 6 am the crowds were so large in places that I had to weave my way through. Started off quite fast, but backed off a bit halfway around when I noticed it wasn't as far as I thought and I had plenty of time. Not much later a group of about 100 soldiers started a training run just in front of me. They ran about 4:15/km. I caught up to them and when the road widened a bit I overtook just for laughs. Some soldiers were ahead of the pack so I picked them up one by one. Only the fastest guy stuck with me and sprinted past me at the end of the long straight road. He stopped and I continued my loop at a more sustainable pace. Was fun racing them.
