Long course at Greenmount. My first ever MTBO long course, having only done a few medium courses previously. Had a bad start, because I hadn't tightened the bolt on my map board properly, and it was rattling like crazy. Stopped just after #2 to try to fix it, and that worked because it was fine for the rest of the ride. I did have another malfunction later in the course though. As I was walking up towards #17, I pulled the seat right off the seat post. Tried to fix it back on as best as possible, but didn't have the tools for it. Going down steeply towards #20 it came loose again and I had to tighten it once more. When I tried to get back on I went over the handlebars, but fortunately didn't hurt myself.

Had fun riding the course. Walked lots of it; pretty much all of the steep climbs and even some downhills because my bike handling skills are terrible. No navigational issues to speak of, other than a little mistake towards #13, but I also did not notice #23 at all. Went straight from #22 to #24. The circle at #23 was almost completely obscured by the out of bounds purple hatch symbol, but I should have noticed the lines going to and from it. So the final result was MP, which is a shame.

Score course in Riverton. Wanted to do 10 km in 45 minutes, so pre-planned a route of that length. Everything went perfectly according to plan. Gained a bit of a buffer on a 4:30/km schedule in the first few kilometres and then held that pace. An elderly woman was staring at me as I ran into her little dead-end retirement complex, and I wondered what she was going to say. She cheered me on.
