Orienteering (metrO series) 34:58 [5] 7.68 km (4:33 / km) +63m 4:22 / km
23c shoes: Brooks Beast 18

Metro event at Stratton. Mad dash to the first control which was clearly visible across the oval. Good thing there were about seven punches there. After #3 I took over the lead from Riley and it was a pretty lonely run from there. By #5 I had to decide on a route, but I wasn't quite ready yet. It was a well set course with no obvious good route. The decision I made didn't seem great to me as I was running the rest of the course. It wasn't terrible either, but turned out to be about 200 m further than what Andries did. However, he had already done the training in the morning and wasn't feeling so great, so in the end I had a comfortable win. Now I only need a place in the top 4 next week to win the series.

Orienteering 4:48 [4] 1.09 km (4:25 / km)
5c shoes: Brooks Beast 18

Orienteering training at Perry Lakes organised by Carol and Ken. Course C. It was a lot of fun, a bit like an ultrasprint. They had set 4 short courses with 5 controls each and had put out metro controls for it. They even put out a fair number of dummy controls, so you had to be careful not to punch the wrong control. Had to slow down in the circle a few times to make sure I got the right one, but got through all courses without mistakes.
