18c shoes: X-Claw 275

H1 at Peterdine. That would have looked like a commanding win if Henry hadn't shown up, but Henry's time put it in perspective. It was a decent run, but not a great run. A little lucky to get through the first two controls unscathed, because I wasn't completely sure of where I was at all times, but after that I started ignoring the white and orange (a lot of white looked orange to me) and got into it better. Little mistakes in the circle on #8 and #9 where I went to the wrong boulder next door before finding the flag. More time loss at #12 where I overshot because I thought I spotted some boulders which turned out to be tree stumps. On the way to #16 I realised I was going finish the course under an hour, which I was quite pleased with, but then nearly ballsed that up by making dumb mistakes on the way to #16 and #17. Must have been oxygen debt.

VE course with R. Spent most of the time 50 m behind, almost struggling to keep up. R kept running well all the way, including the long uphill stretch through #6 and #7.

Control pickup exercise set by Rachel. Had done quite a bit of distance already by this stage, so jogged around at a slow pace. Only realised by the third control that there were tapes. Found all but one of them in the rest of the course, and knew I was in the right place where I didn't see it, so didn't waste time looking for it. Messed up #11, but the rest went ok.
