'Crosser blast! - Busy day today. I have to put out several checkpoints for a crazy long race going on this weekend; The Great Lakes 3 Day (GL3D). Up to 30 miles each day!! I've been roped into placing some of the controls round here. I did 2 on the ride (Withsnape Bay and Base of Winlatter, at Braithwaite). Off out in a mo' to do most of the Blencathra race route to place 2 more...

Placing controls for GL3D around Blencathra - Very slow and steady. Met a chap from Eden Runners on Bowscale, so stayed with him for the duration. Walked 50% of Bowscale, then most of Blencathra. Weather foul. Calf still sore to touch, but fine when running, weird!!

Wander up to Seathwaite to the GL3D race camp - Evening spin to Seathwaite to catch with the GL3D race on this weekend. I'm putting controls out tomorrow here, there and everywhere. Popped down to the last ckeckpoint at Langstrath to check out whether a late woman was on here way back (she wasn't).

Super High Intensity Interval Training. Also known as HIIT, but I thought adding the 'Super' made it sound harder. Basically, same old route, but I give it loads for short bursts, with even shorter rests. Makes me feel sick, especially so early in the morning. Might be OK to try running again soon....

Highly naughty ride around the lake using all the cool footpaths. Gave it some between the gates. Didn't see anybody. Climbed to the terrace track (which is legal) hoping I wouldn't see any walkers as they always get in the way during normal hours of activity.

Gav Bland's place and back (Thirlmere) - Saw 'Fatty' Bland on his way out up Steel Fell. 2nd spin of the day. Lovely evening for it. Legs still heavy from the weekend. Running is a no-no at the mo' given I have a solid right calf that is way too sore to run. Don't recall tweaking it at the 3 Peaks. A fully kitted out TT rider went past me as I was about to turn at Gav Bland's farm. He was rolling with some proper serious kit...As I flew past on my retro steel Peugeot he gave a half-hearted attempt at chasing me, he shouldn't have bothered....
