Friday Aug 31

Running 30:00 [1] 5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Other
(Wore old Nike shoes.) Down South. I got a bit sick again after the weekend, but it would have needed to be a lot worse to justify no training Mon-Thu.

Sunday Aug 26

Orienteering 1:36:53 10.2 km (9:30 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Long at Spirit Sands (north part). Made under 5 min mistakes, slow time/km is due to some combination of the old map, terrain, and being out of shape. Was unmotivated and slow at the beginning with all the deadfall and scrubby vegetation. #2 (1:00) and #6 (2:30) accounted out most of my lost time. Was pleased to still feel like I running well at the end, so perhaps taking it easy (albeit out of unmotivated-ness/laziness) at the beginning turned out to be a good thing.

Saturday Aug 25

Orienteering 32:08 [4] 4.7 km (6:50 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Middle at Yellow Quill. The map was accidentally printed at 1:5,000. I didn't notice much difference but it caused others some problems. I had a very good race, making only a couple 0:05 bobbles. Also took a long route to #1 -- probably a good idea since I wasn't sure enough to bushwhack at the beginning. However, going straight was up to 0:30 faster, so perhaps I should have taken the time to figure things out better so I could have executed the straight route confidently. I think I kept up a good pace the whole way, although I didn't feel particularly good, probably had too much to eat for breakfast (and/or supper the night before).
Orienteering 10:00 [2] 1.4 km (7:09 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Running 25:00 [1] 4.5 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Warmup/cooldown and control pickup, calling it 10 min Orienteering and 25 min running.

Friday Aug 24

Running 1:20:00 11 km (7:16 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Around SE Spruce Woods, on either side of the main road a few km south of the Hogsback. With Tim most of the time. Checking out more of the terrain, trying to determine the area we want mapped, or at least the area for which we'll get a base map.

Thursday Aug 23

Note
No real training today, but I did go for a long walk (2:03, 13.9 K), at a pace not quite fast enough for me to consider it training. Had I done the route 5 min faster, I might have counted it. 10 min faster and I would have. Only went for a walk (and not a run) because I am likely going do to a fair bit of running tomorrow, then have the O-races on the weekend, and don't want to get worn out.

Wednesday Aug 22

shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Around the park.

Tuesday Aug 21

Cycling 34:22 12.6 km (2:44 / km)

Running 12:30 [1] 2.4 km (5:12 / km)

Sunday Aug 19

Cycling 45:00 [1] 13.8 km (3:16 / km)
Down South.

Saturday Aug 18

Cycling 1:15:00 [1] 24.5 km (3:04 / km)
To turn and back, then around roads to the north and back through the park.

Friday Aug 17

Cycling 34:47 [1] 12.6 km (2:46 / km)
Around the park. Another long period without any training... was sick on Sunday, so that was a good reason for not training, and was still a little sick for couple days afterwards, but not enough to justify no training.

Saturday Aug 11

Running 10:54 [2] 2.15 km (5:04 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Just ended up doing a short run today. Had planned on a long bike ride in tbe morning, but felt a bit sick. Thought I might go later in the day instead, but didn't feel any better then.

Friday Aug 10

Cycling 32:39 [2] 12.6 km (2:35 / km)
Around the park.

Thursday Aug 9

Orienteering 33:38 [4] 5.3 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Park event at Birds Hill Park. My navigation was sloppy and I made some 15-20 second mistakes. Guess I had to be running slow too (although my speed might not have been bad considering I'm in poor shape, something I seem to say just about all of the time now). Didn't have anybody of similar ability to compare to (I won by about 14 minutes), so I'm not really sure just how good/bad my race was.
Running warm up/down 22:00 [2] 3.5 km (6:17 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
6 min warmup, 16 min cooldown collection controls.

Wednesday Aug 8

Running intervals 13:11 [4] 3.59 km (3:40 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
3×290 m, 2×925 m, 3×290 m on trails in the park. Took about 1:00 rest after the short ones and 1:45 after the long ones. Times were 1:03, 1:07, 1:00, 3:36, 3:29, 1:00, 0:59, 0:57. Would be very crappy times if I were in shape, but I'm not so they're okay times. Did good to keep going without feeling too discouraged about my slow times.
Running warm up/down 40:00 [1] 7 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old

Tuesday Aug 7

Running 55:00 [1] 9.8 km (5:37 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Around the park.

Monday Aug 6

Cycling 10:09 4.3 km (2:22 / km)
To town and back.

Saturday Aug 4

Cycling 30:00 [1] 9 km (3:20 / km)
Down South.
