Saturday May 31

Orienteering 23:05 [4] 4 km (5:46 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Sprint at Wildwood Park, new map by Darius. Didn't do well -- sprints generally don't seem to be going well for me this year -- made over 2:00 in mistakes and was too slow in the last half. Added some extra distance by running around the west side of the rink leaving #1; didn't see #2 at first and looked around confused before spotting it; took the wrong path to #4, the one leading SE out of #3; and wandered around in the green for over a minute before spotting #9.
Running 25:00 4.5 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
10 min warmup, 15 min cooldown picking up controls.

Friday May 30

Running intervals 25:44 [5] 7.02 km (3:40 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
4x1613 then 2x285 on trails in the park. Times were 5:47, 5:58, 6:00, 6:11 (avg 5:59), 54, 54. Should aim for more consistency.
Running warm up/down 46:30 8.25 km (5:38 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2

Wednesday May 28

Cycling 32:40 [1] 11.4 km (2:52 / km)
Around the park.
Running 14:30 [2] 3 km (4:50 / km)
shoes: Skechers Endorphin
Warm up with Darius, Damian and Tad.
Orienteering 19:37 [4] 3.8 km (5:10 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Park event at Whittier Park. Good run, only made several ~0:05 bobbles, but those can add up... I should have read the map more to prevent some of the bobbles, and reduce the potential for a bigger mistake.
Running 12:00 [2] 2 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Cooldown picking up controls.

Tuesday May 27

Cycling 46:00 [1] 13.6 km (3:23 / km)
Down South and around the main trail loop.
Running 18:00 [2] 3 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Stopped to run a couple times during the bike ride, went to the Western Swamp, and around the trail loop SW of Timberland.

Sunday May 25

Running 55:00 [2] 9.5 km (5:47 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Setting out water and a few more controls for my meet at Glen Valley, and picking up some controls.

Saturday May 24

Orienteering 49:36 5.6 km (8:51 / km)
(sick) shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Middle at Yellow Quill. Nice course by Darius. Still a bit sick -- sore throat had gone away on Thursday, then was replaced by stuffed up nose and ears. Took it easy because I wanted to be able to set up more controls at Glen Valley afterwards; likely would have tried to run fast otherwise. Navigation was good (or perhaps I should downgrade that to "okay" since I was going slow), only made a couple small mistakes and hesitations, about 1.5 min total.
Orienteering 1:40:00 [1] 10 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Control setup at Glen Valley before the Yellow Quill race (my "warm up"), picking up controls after the race, and setting up more at Glen Valley. Total time out there was just under 3 hours.

Friday May 23

Running 24:00 [1] 4 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Short run to the park and back.

Thursday May 22

Cycling 34:30 [1] 12 km (2:52 / km)
Around the park. Was a bit sick earlier in the week, still not feeling 100%. It wasn't bad enough to prevent training, but I'm not concerned about having taken a few days off.

Sunday May 18

Running warm up/down 12:00 [2] 2 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Orienteering 1:22:52 [3] 6.2 km (13:22 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Team Trials Long, Riviere la Peche map, Gatineau Park. Time is to #11 -- I quit between 11 and 12. Did bad, lost motivation and was just wandering at that point. Probably should have tried to perk up a bit and finish the course.

Saturday May 17

Event: National Capital Orienteering Festival

Orienteering 51:17 [4] 4 km (12:49 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Canadian Team Trials Middle, Sedbergh School map just north of Montebello, Quebec. Made huge mistakes on #4 and #5, losing just over 15 min total there, which kind of wrecked my run. The rest was pretty clean so at least there was a good bit of positive as well, although there'd be more had my routes involved fewer trails.
Orienteering 20:09 [4] 2.4 km (8:24 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Team Trials Sprint, Sedbergh School map. Decent start, then overran #4 and did poorly the rest of the way. Was too slow and made some more mistakes on controls 10-13.
Running warm up/down 27:00 5 km (5:24 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
Approximate total for the day.

Wednesday May 14

Running intervals 17:32 [5] 4.3 km (4:05 / km) +120m 3:35 / km
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
In the park, 2x1185, 2x285 on trails, then over to the hill and 2x the hill loop thrice. Times were 4:13, 4:12, 56, 55, 3:30 (1:06, 1:13, 1:11), 3:46 (1:13, 1:16, 1:17). Felt good, and my speed was pretty good.
C • good luck 6

Tuesday May 13

Running 37:00 [1] 6.5 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Around the park.

Saturday May 10

Orienteering 20:34 [4] 4 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
Sprint at The Forks, remapped to sprint standards by MrPither. Made a couple bad route choices which cost me about 1:00 total. Didn't realize that going under the railway tracks and up to the Main St bridge was an option on #6, and went back to the footbridge instead. Went around to the south on #13, fogretting that gray = passable. Need to have a better look too see which routes are valid or not.
Running warm up/down 25:00 [2] 5 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2

Friday May 9

Orienteering 2:00:00 [1] 12 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D old
Checking out control locations at Glen Valley.

Thursday May 8

Running race 18:49 [4] 5 km (3:46 / km) vdot: 53.5
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
Along the triathlon route in the park. 1.25 km splits were 4:31, 4:41, 4:52, 4:45. Was hoping to at least be in the lower 18s, so I'm not too happy with my time. Should probably do more intervals.
Running warm up/down 40:00 7.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2

Wednesday May 7

Running 38:40 [3] 8.4 km (4:36 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Around the park.

Tuesday May 6

Cycling 37:15 [1] 13 km (2:52 / km)
Around the park.

Sunday May 4

Event: Long at Hartney

Orienteering 57:19 [4] 9.4 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Another good run at Hartney. Made about 2:30 of mistakes, most of which was on the first control.
Running warm up/down 35:00 6 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [1] 1.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2

Saturday May 3

Event: Middle at Hartney

Orienteering 36:39 [4] 5.7 km (6:26 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
At Hartney. Did pretty well. Attacked the controls cleanly but my rough navigation wasn't so good in places. Drifted off too far west on #3 but recovered well. I relied too much on the small and indistinct trails near #4. This caused some hesitation on #4 and 200 m extra trail running on #5 because I ended up on the wrong trail coming out of #4, going south instead of southeast.
Running warm up/down 24:00 4.5 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Skechers Endorphin

Friday May 2

Cycling 45:00 [1] 13 km (3:28 / km)
Around the park and to town.

Thursday May 1

Running intervals 18:43 [4] 5.07 km (3:41 / km)

5x900 then 2x285 on trails in the park. Times were 3:25, 3:18, 3:21, 3:22, 3:18, 59, 60.
Running warm up/down 35:00 6 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
