Thursday Aug 28

Running 51:30 [2] 9.7 km (5:19 / km) +140m 4:57 / km
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
In Cambridge, there for a few days before getting back home.

Tuesday Aug 26

Running 41:00 [2] 8.3 km (4:56 / km)
shoes: Skechers Endorphin
In Cornwall, on the way back form New Brunswick.

Sunday Aug 24

Running warm up/down 10:00 [2] 2 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Orienteering 2:43:15 [3] 9.1 km (17:56 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
COC Long, Maple Grove map, Fundy National Park. Navigation was evidently adequate enough to finish the course without tons of mistakes, and I think that's the most positive thing I can truthfully say... I'm terrible in this terrain! Kind of wandered in towards most controls, and had surprising success with that... oh well, next year in Manitoba I should finally get some good results in the COC Middle and Long.

Long Course 10 - Splits

Saturday Aug 23

Running warm up/down 12:00 [2] 2.4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Orienteering 1:28:06 [3] 3.7 km (23:49 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
COC Middle, Maple Grove map, Fundy National Park. Had a horrible race, 22:00 mistake on #1, 4:00 mistakes on #3 and #11, around 35:00 total mistakes, and was, most of the time, too slow on top of that. The start flag was misplaced by about 15 m, but I have no idea if that messed me up on #1 at all. Shouldn't have lost all that time in any case. Apparently mistaking some clearing that I saw through the forest for the powerline's clearing was the main cause of the major time loss.

Middle Course 10 - Splits

Friday Aug 22

Orienteering 19:48 [4] 2.7 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
COC Sprint, McLaren Pond map, Fundy National Park. Good run I guess, fairly happy being 6th Canadian, could have been 3rd though had I made no mistakes. Made a bunch of small mistakes totalling 1:10 or so. Also was very slow going up the hills to #19 and #22.
Running warm up/down 18:00 [2] 3.5 km (5:09 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new

Sprint Course 5 - Splits

Thursday Aug 21

Event: Canadian Orienteering Championships 2008

Orienteering 13:00 [4] 2.3 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Hopewell Rocks Sprint. Felt good physically, but that didn't seem to matter out there... wasn't able to run all that hard with the mud, rockweed, and most significantly, the tricky navigation. Wasn't able to plan ahead. Only made one mistake, ended up at #18 while looking for #17, about 0:30 lost, but wasn't 100% sure of things most of the time.
Running warm up/down 12:00 [2] 2.4 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Skechers Endorphin

Sunday Aug 17

Orienteering 1:35:50 [4] 7.6 km (12:37 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Fishbones Long, Rockwood Park, Saint John. Good run, didn't feel fast, but also didn't make too many mistakes.
Running warm up/down 15:00 2.75 km (5:27 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2

Saturday Aug 16

Event: Fishbones

Orienteering 19:14 [4] 2.3 km (8:22 / km)

Orienteering 1:02:14 3.9 km (15:57 / km)
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2
Fishbones Middle, Rockwood Park, Saint John. Big mistakes on #7, smaller ones on #1 and #4, and had bad routes or was just slow on some others.

Friday Aug 8

Running race 18:15 [4] 5 km (3:39 / km) vdot: 55.4
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2
Along the triathlon route in the park. 1.25 km splits 4:38, 4:34, 4:38, 4:25. Okay time I guess... don't think it's bad, and I probably shouldn't be calling anything over my PB good (since it's from almost two years ago and I should be getting faster).
Running warm up/down 33:00 6 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Excursion TR 2

Thursday Aug 7

Running 33:20 6.5 km (5:08 / km)

Tuesday Aug 5

Running intervals 24:47 [4] 6.44 km (3:51 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
4 x 1 mile, on the main east-west trail Down South, with 3:00 rest between. Started off at the east end. Times and halfway splits: 5:54 (2:58+2:56), 6:09 (3:06+3:03), 6:09 (3:04+3:05), 6:35 (3:21+3:14). Didn't go well, was a bit slow then the sandy section killed me at the start of the last one.
Running warm up/down 30:00 5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Cycling 20:00 [1] 6.9 km (2:54 / km)

Monday Aug 4

Cycling 51:40 [2] 19.3 km (2:41 / km)
North on the highway, back along gravel roads and through the park.

Sunday Aug 3

Orienteering 35:00 [2] 5 km (7:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Checking out control locations for my meet at St. Vital. Took 70 minutes, counting half as training. The rain held off and that was appreciated as there were a lot of map/course changes to make... most significantly a 350 m long, 2.5 or 3 ft wide pipe was laid across the ground (apparently burying it is a one month project, or at least the person I asked said the construction could be going on for a month).

Saturday Aug 2

Cycling 27:25 [3] 11.5 km (2:23 / km)
Around the park. No wind, but lots of campers.

Friday Aug 1

Running 1:10:00 [2] 13 km (5:23 / km)
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D new
Around the main trail loop Down south.
