Saturday Nov 18 #

Orienteering race 2:13:34 [3] 4.0 km (33:24 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX #2

Boyle Lodge day event #1. Massive lose in vague flat area supposedly with hill behind but so not so! 51min on a 10min leg. Even so it was a long effort in challenging native bush, hardly any "white". Good fun though map was typically Chris Forne last-minute rush job. Sprint specification FCS!

Friday Nov 17 #

MTBO race 1:29:30 [3]
shoes: Specialised #2

MTB Score Event Hanmer Forest. Took it easy (as per what was to come) and had a nice ride on Graham Read's "old" bike. As last night, pleased with the end game, picking the best of the flat, but others felt that the points density there was such that one should have cleaned up the whole area. Bit short of sleep due to late night/early start, but nice nevertheless. Picked up a few controls after (not recorded).

Orienteering race 42:14 [3] 2.0 km (21:07 / km)
shoes: Jalas Black FLX #2

Night event Boyle Lodge. Dist beeline. Quite slow rates as may be seen, native forest quite slow and very technically demanding. Effort prob 2.5. NB when looking at Winsplits, some people did it in daylight.

Thursday Nov 16 #

Rogaining race 1:29:30 [3] 9.5 km (9:25 / km) +260m 8:17 / km
shoes: Vasque Mindbender

Titahi Bay. First half of 3hr rogaine so I could finish early. Solo. Nice evg, breezy. Gorse in Whitireia Park wasn't bad at least along the tops, but the grass was very long so where there wasn't a bit of a track it was slow. Shortened the park part of my route and managed to plot a nice way home thru a 100 and 2X30. Gross points 790, we'll see what the guns get for 3hrs before deciding whether that's good or not. Anyway, got 4 events in next 3 days, heh heh.

Wednesday Nov 15 #

Biking 14:00 [3] 1.7 km (8:14 / km) +140m 5:50 / km
shoes: Specialised #2

Std downtown excursion, eqvt dist and time.

Tuesday Nov 14 #

Running 25:43 [4] 4.0 km (6:26 / km) +140m 5:28 / km
shoes: Vasque Grand Traverse

Home block. Splits 7.12, 5.22, 7.14, 5.55. Felt comfortable, concentrated on cadence. 20sec over PB which was on 18 May, but don't think there have been too many under 26min. Each km qtr min over that best run except the last, which was 20sec under. Could be mismatches of the split boundaries.

Monday Nov 13 #

Biking 13:30 [4] 1.7 km (7:56 / km) +140m 5:37 / km

Std downtown excursion equivt dist/time. Pushed a bit on the way out cos I was late so pushed hard on the way back too.

Sunday Nov 12 #

Orienteering race 52:29 [3] 4.3 km (12:12 / km) +120m 10:43 / km
shoes: Jalas Black FLX #2

Manga Pirau aka Waikawa Beach. Dist is beeline. Sand-dune terrain, hard to read even at 1:7500 and magnifier creates awkward reflections in sunlight. Blustered thru with the help of major features and control descriptions. Good run with only half and quarter minute errors until #9 when I mistook the hill with the control for that BIG one over there. From which there was a great view, including of the control flag below.
