AW sprint Tawa College. #4 was hidden behind a small unmarked wall sticking out from the bldg. so DNF. That rattled me but settled down after a couple of legs. Warm evg,

AW sprint Tawa College, short course as a warm-down. Fairly smooth tho 1:2000 map helped a lot.

More UH riverbank btwn SH2 and the houses, and Moonshine Br to Totara Park Br. Small shower had me folding the paper basemap up really small (not covered in tracing paper) but it didn't last long. There was a time when this amt of moisture would have dissolved all the ink. Warm.

Riverbank Upper Hutt btwn Moonshine and Totara Park SE side. Btwn SH2 and river not bad now, made a start btwn SH2 and houses which only has rogaine level detail.Mapping at 1:5000. Poets Park (in Trentham slice) needs touch-up. Dist adjusted after realising that I didn't turn the GPS off - included drive home. It did include riding sealed roads for a coffee break which upped the speed a bit.

CSW/Club event Karori. One of the worst courses and maps in recent memory, starting when the first control ("cave") was a contour further up the hill than marked, and the entrance was about 300mm diameter. (Stormwater outlet.) The indistinct track nearby beckoned as I had never been on it - hands and knees stuff tho the GPS track suggests I was largely on it. Everything a shade greener than marked including the white. Back and forwards past controls later on the course. Pits and depressions that wouldn't hold a tablespoon of water in a thunderstorm. Those stupid 507 tracks at the 1:15,000 size (map was at 1:5000). Steep and green. Still a bright warm day, summer not over here yet. A nice coffee at the K Park café.
