Strength (trampoline) 15:00 [4]
More sea sickness prevention therapy. Worked up a pretty good sweat. Great low-impact leg workout. Planning to do another 15 later today.

Wednesday Jun 27

Cycling (MTB on the road) 1:45:00 [3] 37 km (2:50 / km)
slept:6.0 weight:166lbs shoes: pearl cycle MTB
I thought it was supposed to be cooler this morning!?!? Went out to get the bike, planning to do a fairly hard ride and found a balmy 72F and a dewpoint of about 71. Skies looked like it might rain. We need it. Well, decided I was bored with my usual hill route (and my legs weren't all that motivated anymore) so did a mid-county loop.... Adams-Ballas-Olive-Spoede-Ladue-McKnight/Rock Hill-Lockwood and home. Almost got picked-off by some guy paying more attention to his cell phone than to his driving.
Walking 20:00 [2]

It was raining, but we went anyway. Shorter loop than usual though. Funny, the dog won't go out in the back yard when it's raining, but no problem going for a walk....

Run 27:59 [2] 3.4 mi (8:14 / mi) +60m 4:51 / km
slept:6.0 weight:166lbs shoes: ASICS
Glendale short loop. Sprinkled just enough right before my run to make the humidity really unpleasant.... aqua-jogging?
Walking (Evening Walk) 30:00 [2] 1.75 mi (17:08 / mi)
Doggie got her walk tonight...

Monday Jun 25

Cycling (MTB on the road) 1:30:00 [4] 30 km (3:00 / km)
max:168 slept:6.5 weight:167lbs shoes: pearl cycle MTB
Kirkwood hills. 3 reps on Marshall:

4:35
3:55
4:45

Thought about a 4th but needed to get home and I was feeling pretty overheated. Temp was in the 80's and high humidity.

3:55 is definitely a PR for this season and I achieved my short term goal of breaking 4 minutes! BUT, just as I was getting to the top, some roadie blasted past me like I was standing still. Didn't bother me (well maybe for a second or two) but it sure made me wish for a road bike.

I was a little surprised I broke 4 because on the first rep I was thinking about what I needed to do to get there and didn't really feel like I could hold 15kph all the way up. So as I started the 2nd rep I decided to try it 100m at a time and see how far I could get....

Next goal is for two reps under 4.

Hamstring is feeling much better. Still tight after sitting for a while but to be expected I guess. Planning to try a run tomorrow AM.

Paddling 2:30:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:166lbs
Put in at Castlewood. Upstream for 1:45 then turn around. Weather was sort of odd: Bright sun at home, but foggy and low clouds at Castlwood. Quite nice actually. Sun came out about 15 minutes before takeout and got really hot.

Strength (trampoline) 25:00 [2]
We're going on a cruise in a few weeks and my wife gets sea sick. One working theory is that the inner ear isn't used to the up/down motion of the boat (especially without the visual component). With that in mind, a friend recommended a pogo stick. I thought a small trampoline might be more practical (and the neighbors had one that we could borrow).

Since it was sitting there in the family room, I figured I might as well give my inner ear a crash course on up/down motion. To negate the visual component I decided that bouncing with eyes shut would be a good thing. As long as your feet don't leave the webbing, there's no problem. The minute you lose contact you lose all reference to your location in space and maintaining balance becomes a challenge as does maintaining a constant location. Turns out to be a good focus drill.

Did one 5 minute and two 10 minute sessions with about 30 minutes inbetween each.

Apart from requiring pretty solid concentration, my calves were fried by the end of the second 10 minute session. Ankles were feeling it a bit as well.
