Strength (Water Skiing) 20:00 [5]
Not really training, but certainly a workout!
Tried to get up a few times on a single. Got out of the water on the first try, but couldn't hold it. Resorted to using 2 skis after a few more tries. 1 1/2 times around the lake on the first go, another 1 1/2 times around about 30 minutes later. About 1.8 miles on a loop.

Tuesday Aug 7

Stretching 15:00 [1]
slept:5.5 weight:168lbs
I've been debating whether to log 'stretching'.

Phyhsical therapists all make the same remark at my first appointment during the warm-up stretches and then again, during the inquisition phase where they try to discover just how far can you bend in a given direction: "WOW, look at those ITB's! We'll have to work on flexibility!". And then I get handed a whole pile of stretching exercises, many of which I've already been doing for quite a while.....

Anyway, over the course of the day I do a lot of stretching. The flexibility hasn't really improved much, but it does seem to help prevent injuries and I do feel better afterwards. So, I often spend a significant portion of my day 'stretching', sometime as much as 60 minutes, but usually 30-45. At least 15 minutes prior to a run, 10 before biking, and another 10 about an hour after most bike rides and runs. Then there's just after getting out of bed in the morning and before going to bed at night.

Therefore, to satisfy my own curiosity WRT how much time I spend 'stretching' in a week, I've decided to try and capture some data....
Run 42:29 [4] 5.0 mi (8:30 / mi) +110m 4:56 / km
slept:5.5 weight:168lbs shoes: ASICS #2
Logged this a '4' because of the heat.

Got a late start, 09:45, and it was already hot. Lost close to 4 pounds of body weigh in < 43 minutes.

Plan was to do a 3 mile loop and if I felt ok, do another 2 mile loop

Pace for the first 3 was 8:45. There was a lot of shade (40%?) on the route and I felt pretty good at the end.

Pace for the next 2 was 8:14... Hadn't intended to speed up, but those last 2 miles are pretty flat so I didn't notice it until the last half mile or so when I started to overheat. The last mile had much less shade (20%?).

Got home and I was really hot, sort of dizzy, and my arms felt incredibly heavy. Turned the garden hose on myself for about 10 minutes. Took a cool shower and another hour or so to finally stop sweating....

Get up earlier, stay inside, or cut the distance.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

Monday Aug 6

Note
slept:7.0 weight:168lbs (rest day)

Sunday Aug 5

Run (E/L) 51:36 [3] 5.7 mi (9:03 / mi) +150m 5:12 / km
slept:7.5 weight:169lbs shoes: ASICS #2
Was going to do 7.5 but left ankle started to twinge (extensor). I think I had tied the lace too tight.

E/L pace is supposed to be 9:06.
