| Note | ||
| slept:4.0 (injured) (rest day) | ||
| Didn't sleep so well because of the injections in the knee make rotational movement quite painful.
Went target shooting with some friends. Haven't done that in a number of years (20+?) . Used to go quite regularly. Basics came back fairly quickly. By the end of the day, the pain from the injections was almost gone. That's the good thing about catching the hot spots early, they often don't hurt as much or as long.

| "Home: Total War - Man vs. Mousies" begins in earnest today. Bought 8 more of the traditional mouse traps bringing the active total to 12. Wife won't let me use bucket full of water + jar on a spindle. | ||

| Visit to Dr. Crane was moved up from next week to today. Since I'm not able to run because of the ankle, had hotspot on right knee and ankle injected. | ||

| easy, enjoyable moonlight paddle. Lot's of fish activity Calm lake, about 80F, humid. No breeze to speak of. T-storms way off to the south. Could just see the flashes of light. Should get some here later tonight.
Drive home tomorrow... might get a paddle in before we go.

| Cycling (MTB on the road) 1:12:00 [4] 30.2 km (2:23 / km) | ||
| slept:6.5 (injured) shoes: pearl cycle MTB | ||
| Almost to Hale and back. Didn't realize I had a strong tailwind until I turned around. Ankle doesn't seem to be much of a problem for road riding. Rotating the foot to release the cleat is the biggest problem so far. | ||
| Run 5:00 [4] | ||
| (injured) shoes: ASICS #2 | ||
| Benjamin is learning to ride without training wheels. He's doing quite well now, but I still have to run along with him to catch him (the bike's a bit too big). Two trips up to the circle and back. Little bit downhill on the way out which he can do without help. The uphill part is a little harder for him. About .1 or .15 mile each way? Ankle isn't really ready for that sort of abuse. The things we do for our kids.... | ||
| Paddling 39:15 [4] 2.5 mi (15:41 / mi) | ||
| (injured) | ||
| Excellent twilight/night paddle. Light breeze, smooth water, 63F, partly cloudy, moon peeking out. Started off going for a PR, but was running out of gas about 2/3 the way around the lake and backed off. It's been a busy day, afterall...
A big heron flew along, just above and to the side of me, for a few seconds. I've seen it several times now. Ankle is stiff and sore.

| Foot fit into bike shoe better today, but still snug. Ankle is still swollen. Toe discoloration is starting to fade.
Ride felt ok. Pressure from shoe on ankle caused mild discomfort. Will try again tomorrow. Cool again today. 67F, overcast, occasional sprinkle. Lots of rain further south.

| Paddling 40:00 [4] | ||
| (injured) | ||
| Got back from dinner + ice cream in Tawas and the lake looked pretty smooth with a light breeze so decided to go for another twilight paddle. Got about 1/4 of the way around and the wind shifted into my face and increased daramatically. Then shifted again as I made another turn so that it was blowing down the length of the lake. This was ok til I got to the other end and had to cut across and into. Now the wind was really blowing and there were 12-14 inch waves (don't sound so bad unless you're sitting in a little 9 foot recreational kayak) coming over the bow and some into the cockpit. Decided if it got any worse, I might have to pull out and walk back. Fortunately, made it to the protected side while still afloat and had a peaceful paddle back home. | ||

| Easy paddle around the lake. Not feeling very motivated today. Overcast, light breeze, 62F.
Ankle is not as swollen today, but hurts more with movement than it has. Many hues of black, blue, and yellow are becoming visible this morning... Tried on my bike shoe. A bit snug, but ok. May try a short ride tomorrow if it's not raining.
