| Stretching 15:00 [1] | ||
| weight:169lbs (injured) | ||
| Frequent ice cream consumption combined with a couple of Dewey's pizzas in the last week is keeping the G value pretty steady despite increased workout volume and intensity.
1111 Mississippi tonight so no shortage of calories today.
| Cycling (MTB on the road) 1:42:00 [4] 33.2 km (3:04 / km) | ||

| Kirkwood hill route. Once up BB + 2 Marshall's. 4:09 and 5:20. Would have done a 3rd, but had to get home to take Ben to tennis lesson. Went seriously anaerobic on the first rep and had to take it easy on the 2nd. Can tell I haven't been on hills for a while.
Beautiful morning. Don't get much better weather-wise. 60F, clear blue sky. Found a new wine shop at BB & D. Ferry in a new strip mall. Will have to stop in and meet the owners.

| I was planning to ride Ben to his tennis lesson on the tag-a-long and the do addtional riding during the lesson. But mom had forgotten to set the alarm so when I got home, everyone was just getting out of bed. No time to ride to lesson so mom drove him and I got to go for another ride.
Adams-Ballas-Clayton-Big Bend-Sappington-Home. I ate before the first ride, but not much before the 2nd. Just about bonked during the last mile. Was well hyrdrated though: only lost a pound. 3 scrambled eggs, 2 toast, half a cantaloupe (large), handfull of blueberries and strawberries, and a yogurt smoothie and I was starting to feel back to normal....
| Note | ||
| (injured) | ||
| The quite as tender as it was, but still some swelling. 2 of the toes have return to almost normal, but toe #4 is still really swollen. No discoloration, just swollen. There's no 'active' pain, I can walk normally, but if, say I try to sep the toes to wash inbetween, it hurts like hell. There was no break on the XRay. I wonder if I tore something?
I haven't looked for mice yet today. Laura has been downstairs already so I'm guessing there aren't any....

| With Matt. Meramec @ castlewood. Beautiful morning for a paddle: cool, calm, mist rising from the water. Water level surprisingly high. Must have rained quite a bit to the SW. Used the single blades today.
Is it worth carrying the kayak paddles at Berryman, or should we just use the livery standard issue???
| C • That depends on what you've got 4 | ||

| Finish out the 35 minute session. My second impression of this machine was as good as the first. I really like it. The long stride reminds me of pool running in about chest deep water. | ||

| Legs felt on the dead side. Kirkwood hill route. Went out to Marshall for some reps. Did 2: 4:20, 4:49. Breeze was out of the SW so the air quality was really bad from traffic on 270 AND 44. There was also a lot of truck traffic. On the 2nd rep, a cement truck going just faster than I was, laid down a pretty heavy blanket of diesel exhaust that about killed me. Finished with a loop out Ballas to Clayton, back on Geyer. | ||

| No mice again today.
AOWN moment this morning. Don't think I've seen this before. Was out getting ready leave for bike ride. Noticed several areas of the driveway had been covered by a fine redish brown dirt. One isolated patch about a foot and a half in diameter. Another area further up the drive stretches all the way acroos the drive. At one edge it's about 2 feet wide, on the other, it's about 10 inches. As I get closer, I notice that the 'dirt' is moving. Turns out, two? colonies of small red/brown ants are engaged in a serious territorial dispute. Major battles are being fought in the larger patches, while rivers of reinforcements flood in from different areas. When I got back from my ride, the war was over. Many dead ants left behind. Not many survivors left on the field. Hard to say if there was a victor. The dead night crawler that might have been the cause was also gone,

| One circuit of the machines.
What has happened to workout etiquette? I like to run through the machines in the order that they are placed on the floor. I've been told they are arranged to work out specific muscle groups in a specific order. Don't know if there's truth in this, but there it is.... There were 3 other people using the machines as well. Annoyingly, they were on a seemingly random path between each machine. Maybe a bee could have made sense of it, but I couldn't. About half of the time, one of these other people managed to jump onto my next machine about 15 seconds before I'd finish with my current one.

| No, not alternative minimum tax. It's a newer machine at the mid-county YMCA. Adaptive Motion Training. A cross between an elliptical and a stair-stepper.
The machine (precor 100i) adapts to the motion and the stride to simulate stair climbing, running, and sprinting to work out specific muscle groups. You can change the motion whenever you want, so you can mix climbing, running, and sprinting. I think this machine gave me the best machine workout I've ever done.

| Home: Total War, day 3
Mousie Count: 4 All my traps are up on top of AC ducts and wall ledges. The unfortunate mouse caught today fell, trap and all, onto my wife's scrap booking table. Good thing I found it first or Home: Total War would have taken on a new meaning. And no, I didn't tell her about it....

| Home: Total War, Day 2
Mousie Count: 3 Mysteriously, 2 traps with peanut butter, located outside near potential entry sites, were completely clean but unsprung this morning. You'd never know that there was ever any PB on the things. Ants?
